Cheers for that! I'm actually not sure why, if it has to do with the new save or just luck, but this time around my sim got to deliver a baby on her very first active day at level 8! I was VERY surprised as when she got to promotion I was thinking "alright, now let's wait for ever...." !!
So, my problem now is that I don't know if there was an issue with my old save (quite old, many generations) or if I was just being impatient. I had a number of issues with it so maybe the save was corrupted or something. Or maybe it's just luck this time! I struggled with the diagnosis at the beginning, way more than the first time around, but now that she's at a higher level it's actually very easy. Often she gets one final choice at the end of the tests so she can't really get the wrong diagnosis, and if not, the symptoms are incredibly obvious compared to the beginning of the career!
So anyways, I'm good now! I did have a question though, how does it work when they spawn the pregnant sim to deliver? Do they "create" a random pregnancy or do they use a sim already pregnant? Because the one my sim delivered is married to a woman so I thought it was odd that it was her...
I had my doctor impregnate a couple of sims throughout town and still no one is showing up to have a baby.
I had to wait ~4 weeks till I finally got lucky and the pregnant event triggered when I played the Doctor 3-4 patch ago.
I just had one of my doctors reach level 8 (Medical Specialist) and the first work day I went with them to the hospital, the deliver a baby event happened. So it's working for me. Or at least I have super lucky RNG for it to happen immediately.
Had issues yesterday when I needed to complete 3 surgeries, when collapsed patient emergency happened the patient went to the surgery table and my sim began to operate and then the patient would get up suddenly and go to the other surgery table and my sim would sit at initial one indefinitely (i tried waiting to see if it would sort itself out, went till end of shift...). I tried cancelling and using other surgery station but it wouldn't let me, and after multiple reloads I gave up and eventually got my required surgeries through diagnosis and got my promotion. Now just today, go to work needing to Deliver a Baby, and I get the emergency event, patient goes to table and then 5 seconds after starting surgery, she gets up, changes clothes, and leaves... More than a little frustrated I reloaded, and tried removing that surgery station so the patient would go to the other one, glitch still happened, reload again, tried resetting the patient after she got up and started leaving, she just did it again, and again and again, after resetsim on patient and my own sim, nothing mattered, she was NOT going through the surgery.. ... After several hours of trying, and then searching for any others with same issue and looking for any workaround, best thing I can find is to cheat promotion increase and ruin trophy unlocks for my save permanently. That's NOT a solution to me. The work emergency events are clearly the problem, since diagnosing a surgery for illness on a patient workd, it's only the event one that had issue, but the baby delivery is always an emergency event only. I have given up, only thing I really wanted was the skelly sim and of course that's the only thing I can't unlock. I am on ps4 so obviously I'm not running any mods or anything. I love this game but, seriously, 4 years in and it has more issues than any game Iv played on ps4 , more action time lag than any mmo raid Iv done, and crashed more than a blind racer when I built a large house on large lot. I'm sorry but that's just ridiculous to me, 4 years in the game should be capable of doing what your supposed to be able to do in it, not taking 45 min game time to drink a drink during a party with 4 invites to a 2 sim household making the only way I could see a full household having a party that wasn't a 6 hour staring contest is if you lived on an empty lot.... Not having careers from the first expansion pack released for the game, several years ago, be a glitch ridden mess. It's just unacceptable, and I'm left feeling like I want a refund instead of enjoying the game.
