I have just left some items (books written by the sim's mother) from my sim's inventory in their retail shop and set them for sale - the same way I always have. I can set her books for sale without any issues, but once she leaves the retail lot, they're back in her inventory and I will have to set it all back again once I go back to the bookstore. I also wanted another household to buy her books, but if I play with my other household and go to her store, all the books are gone and it's just an empty shop :/What do you expect to see? I just want the books to stay where I placed them. I have the solution! Put the books in your sim's personal inventory. Go to the home lot. Place the books in home lot somewhere. Then go into build mode and put the books into the household inventory. Then go back to the retail lot and place books in the store from the household inventory. They will not go back to your personal inventory. It's a pain, but it works!

Don't have an arm to test this but I assume you tested this without mods installed ?

Im having the same problem with my book store, the books I put for sale goes back to my sims inventory when he he goes home. Are you able to fix your problem?

I have this exact same issue going on in my game with books being returned to the inventory of the bookstore owner after leaving the retail lot.....

Same issue. Just happened today;( so annoying since I had a bunch of books there. Any ideas how to avoid this?!

@justyniaok1 for my retail bookstores, I have my book writers visit the owner and gift them the books, using a give gift action like the ones from Seasons. That way, they books change ownership to the store owner.
