Yeah, the teen sim was the active one. I'd followed him to school, then when he came home the relationship card popped up immediately once his home lot loaded.
@forensicgeek So I think that's what's going on. The game picks the active Sim as target for the NPCs questions, hence the weird inappropriate questions.
