The "default" display name for the Whiteboard interaction seems to be "Careers".
The game then overrides this name with another one depending on what class is scheduled or if it is exam day.

It seems the game is not recognizing, in some circumstances, what type of override text to use. There could be a variety of reasons for this. It would be helpful, I think, to know if this occurs during a specific class/exam, if it's always during a specific one or on every day the sim goes to school.
Regarding the mod issue, it is true that some mod settings that affect time-flow will sometimes interfere with in-game schedules. This may cause the game to fail to recognize what class is taking place. It is possible that this time miss-alignment persists in the save even after mods are removed from the game. Because of this it would be helpful to have confirmation when the issue occurs in a save that never had any mods.
@nimarellisto's tip for resetting time may help with saves that had altered time-flow.
