My mermaid sims never receive royalties from books or anything else, and my normal sims can. What happens is for example if they publish a book, the royalties will never pop up and it is almost like the book never existed. This also happens with nature documentaries and songs.
@elyeett I'm curious, do you own the Get Famous pack ?
Just wondering if Mermaids are still more bugged then royalties for other Sims.

I use MCCC and my mermaid conservationists who live in Newcrest and San Myshuno and "commute in" receive royalties for their documentaries just fine. I wonder if it's something to do with Sulani. I should try it with my mermaid conservationist in Sulani and let you know.

So, iI don't think it's MCCC.
Paka'a in San Myshuno is the only mermaid in a large household, and other Sims are also getting royalties. Rhiannon in Sulani is a member of a two person mermaid household (sisters) but the only one who gets royalties (her sister is a painter). I don't know if that makes a difference...
I’ve been chatting with a friend who had this issue, and we think that if two mermaids in the same household are supposed to receive royalties, that’s when it triggers. Does that fit with the other reports?
Im getting this error but I have a family of spellcasters, no mermaids. Only one of them have done one Nature Documentarie and it was after that that the error started occuring.
@crinrict Sorry I took so long to reply, no I do not have Get Famous and royalties still work for normal sims.
