@Bearpal64 Ok, what you are seeing is the way it normally works. I don't think we have ever been able to take selfies with children due to the height difference but don't know that for a fact since I hardly ever take selfies with more that one sim. When I have tried to take selfies with two sims, it's always been with teens and above. Never tried it with a child and an older sim until testing it for my earlier reply. Selfies only seem to have 3 poses and the heads of the sims always seem to be close together so I do think it's the disparate heights that prevent it from happening. I do play on a PC though so it might be a little different on a console. There is another way to take pictures too if you have a camera in a sim's inventory, you also take photos from clicking on the camera in the inventory but any way I tried I couldn't take a selfie with a child and older sim.
Still don't know how OP's friend does it unless they use mods which they said they don't

@crinrict Understood on the PC & console versions. Sorry, didn't mean to confuse the issue.
On the poses in the pictures. Since they can't be duplicated with the cameras and poses, I going to check if I can recreate them in game somehow. The one that looks like a high 5 might be the give props social but I don't know if it works between a child and an older sim so I'll test. The one with the hand on the shoulder though idk. It looks like they may be watching something together so it may be something with a watch option. It could be that the friend was using the take photo option that doesn't use a pose on both pictures instead of pose options and just happened to catch it when it happened. It could also be just a saved screenshot and an in game camera was not even involved at all too. But I can't recall ever seeing something like that during gameplay so I'm curious if that is one of the little hidden gems you run across in the game from time to time.

Hey! I’m the friend with the magic poses, lol. All I do is have an adult go to tripod to take a picture. I choose “take picture of” then it gives me options of children and adults who are on the lot. I choose a child and an adult, and they pose sweetly. If I use markers they will not do the sweet poses.
- crinrict6 years agoHero+@Lizaster523 Maybe the poses depend on the relationship between the Sim that you take a picture of then.
I really don't think this is a bug. Selfies with children are not possible, probably due to height issues as @CGrant56 said. but you can take them with a child and another Sim.
It's what I'm seeing. Don't meed a marker. - CGrant566 years agoHero+
@Lizaster523 @LyssSimpatico Thank you for posting the video and posting about how it was done. You've shown me something new and it is appreciated. I really like those poses!
@crinrict I think you might be on to something with the relationships. Definitely going to test some more now that I know how it was done.

@CGrant56This is interesting. I just created the family I used as a test and they didn't know each other super well. They knew each other well enough but also not super high.
Update:
So I tried to just take pictures of Mom and Daughter.
Oddly enough sometimes it worked. They would pose together. But most of the other times they would pose separately but together.
I can't figure out how they pose together as a family rather than pose together doing separate poses.
I cycled through all the different poses and they won't come together if they are already posing separately.

@Bearpal64 Thanks for linking the video. I haven't had a chance to play around with it yet. I couldn't get a child and an older sim to pose together when I tried earlier, I was trying with a child and his aunt, then with his teenage brother and then with his adopted dad. Mom was at work at the time. So I want to see if I can get it to work with the mom and child to get the poses you got in the 1st part of the video.

i made a mistake selfies were never an option i guess. But the poses of them interacting are not in my game but they are in hers. Why is that?
- CGrant566 years agoHero+
@LyssSimpatico Idk what exactly is going on. It seems to be hit and miss. I did manage to get them once with child and mother in my testing but most of the time I keep getting the separate poses. And trying with different sim combinations, I just kept getting the separate poses so something has to be going on that I haven't figured out yet. But they are in the game. Just how to get them reliably is the issue. Still working on it though and if I find a reliable way to get them, I will post it in this thread. Really puzzling, that's for sure. So keep checking here and maybe I'll have found something by the time you next visit.

I did max out the friendship level between mother and child. Made sure they were in happy moods. I invited over another child and they could take a picture together but not with adults. If its not a bug and it’s something required in order to get the kids to take pictures with adults, i think the gurus should give this a look as it is really difficult to get these pictures.

Selfies are definitely supposed to be unavailable between children/adults, due to height differences, that's by design. The inconsistency with Take Photo With sometimes working and sometimes not sounds like a potential bug, we can investigate, thanks for all the info everyone 🙂

@LyssSimpatico Could you edit the first post to make this report about the poses being so different ?
