Do you need some real convincing? This is off the grid, and I even show you the bills and utilities before and after my Sim puts trash into it.
I see I can put in the trash myself (by clicking and dragging to the trash can). But my Sim is not able to: he picks it up and puts it down again. When I remove off the grid, everything works fine.
I am having the same experience. Using the Nano trash can while Off-the-Grid trait is applied to lot and no power stored/generated results in the sim picking up the trash and then dropping it again. If Off-the-Grid trait is removed (and no other changes), it suddenly works. If Off-the-Grid trait applied and power stored/generated, it also works. Seems that the 'Works Off-the-Grid' label on the Nano trash can is not accurate and it needs power. I was kinda hoping it was battery operated *heh* 😉
I'm having the same issue. Playing off grid and my sim will not put trash in the can on their own. And as we know you do not receive power credits if you drag it in yourself which renders this trash can completely useless on an off the grid lot and pointless on the grid. :/
