Me too, I get it. It's an old thread. Nevertheless, the problem evidently persists.
I'm on a Mac. I do use CC and mods, but even when I haven't, I've had that problem. I didn't mean to but I'm pretty sure my weenie roast killed multiple mermaids in Sulani. None of them were Nalani, though, so that's a bonus.
Also ash piles are popping up and I'm not certain what is causing them. It happens at restaurant tables and sometimes when the command for a sim to clean up a pile of trash fails. The cool thing about the trash pile spawning situation is that the trash pile will respawn and I can scavenge for more parts.
