[OPEN] Parents refuse to care for toddler

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.53.115.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Get Famous, Seasons, Cats and Dogs, City Living, Get Together, Get to Work
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I don't know how to trigger it. Interacting with toddlers is all I have.
What happens when the bug occurs? Sims will not respond to my commands when dealing with a toddler. My sims take in-game hours to respond, sometimes cancel toddler care options for no reason, refuse to put my toddler to bed or feed her, leading to her mood and emotional control dropping substantially.
What do you expect to see? I expect to have my Sims respond within a reasonable time frame and not have to be told to perform an action 4-5 times before they actually do it.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

  • May I ask how you reset Sims? And what all that entails? I've seen that a few times now but I'm not sure how to do that/what it all affects for the Sim. Like, would it affect Skill levels and relationships?

@EverWolfy Simply shift+click on the sim and choose "reset". It will not change anything about your sim other than cancel queue actions and will sort of soft "debug" them into autonomous compliance. Some of the time this is not enough, but it does help me other times.
  • Im on xbox and i have this issue as well. The only thing that seems to fix it and i have to do this multiple times within an 30 minute span, is reseting the sim

  • I have it too, and what's more, there is also something hapening that is connected with moodlets: when a moodlet is about to expire in minutes (in Sim time), all household Sims actions freeze (but time passes by) and it unfreezes just after the expiration of moodlet. This happens in  my Sim family with multiple traits and one toddler and one infant.

Yeah, I think the drop interactions problem overall with this game right now at least is due to sims autonomy... I have noticed each time, toddler or not, infant or not, that some sims drop queued interactions is because someone else try to do something with them or they are way too quick to want to do other things... like they do their homeworks and suddenly wants to take a drink out of nowhere from the sink... this happen automatically also after many many cleaning interaction, and it makes no sense and is a waste of time... Juste like the take the garbage out interaction, they do it and immediately after have the interaction to take out all of the other trash can to the main outside bin... this also affect the spoiled egg issue from Cottage Living... sims are too responsive in autonomy, but not enough when asked by the player.

For toddler and infant, I found that what create the issue is that the other sims interaction take priority on yours, so if you command the mom to take care of the infant/toddler, they will not or drop the queued interaction because the toddler or infant are actively autonomous on their own and their autonomy takes over your interaction... This is bad to a point that you better play without autonomy which defy the purpose of a life simulation game, but this is better then, not perfect either, but better...

I think they should rework the autonomy to and allow it to happen only when the sims are not doing anything and only after a certain amount of time doing completely nothing, lets say multiples seconds (10 seconds) doing nothing, then they think of something to do... Right now, they jump the gun at anything random around the house, while doing other things and they dont complete whatever was asked to do, or simply cancel interactions for other sims interactions to happen... or for judging decor... like judging decor should only, ONLY happen when they do nothing and have been doing nothing for a while, and also when it happen it should not cancel interaction that you gave them or that they were going to do...
