Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.61.15.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? I have every pack except Moschino, magic stuff, and tiny living.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have a toddler with either the Independent Trait, or the Charmer Trait. Wait for them to get sad. (this is not restricted to toddlers, and this is not restricted to this moodlet.)
What happens when the bug occurs? Several moodlets do not go away regardless of the state of the Sim.
What do you expect to see? I expect moodlets to disappear when I satisfy the sims needs. I expect the measures I take to remove it to work.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. I reinstalled Windows, Origin, and Sims 4 in a brand new, fresh clean install with NO MODS or any third party content whatsoever. The game was working properly for a period of two days. Now MANY sims, Adults and toddlers, are stuck in unhappy moods because of these moodlets.
Several moodlets do not go away regardless of the state of the Sim and it's breaking the game.
Many people know about the hanging Lovelorn trait, when a Sim without the romantic trait becomes Lovelorn despite EVERY effort. This is that, but more so. I'm having issues with school moodlets, the pregnancy moodlet, and the fire moodlet.
The toddlers in my game are all sad. Several adults are sad. They are all afflicted by the "Where is Everyone?" social moodlet. There is NO timer for this moodlet. It shows up REGARDLESS of the social needs of the child at any time. It WILL NOT GO AWAY regardless of any cheats, mods, cache clearing, removal of all CC content, fresh reinstalling, even changing the traits of the Sims in CAS, removing the traits in CAS, removing the traits with cheats....nothing.
Toddlers are taken away for being unhappy too long. Teens are Tense for 24 hours and refuse to eat or sleep. This is a game breaker. I have seen reports about this issue from 2016, and this is still NOT solved.
Now MANY sims, Adults and toddlers, are stuck in unhappy moods because of these moodlets. I have to keep spamming "make happy" cheats so the "feels good" moodlets will override the sad.
I have cleanly reinstalled, down to my operating system. This installation has been running on absolutely no mods. I am well within the hardware requirements for this game, I have owned this computer and the account for years. I'm going to pull my hair out.
- Toddler has issue with the charmer trait moodlet. Problem is, you switch to another one hence the interactions don't work and make it get stuck. Switching the Toddler back to Charmer and then have him interact made the moodlet disappear for me. Not sure if it will last or what would happen if you now change it. There have been reports of the traits still being active after removing but that's a topic for another thread
- I don't see any stuck fire moodlets
- The Sim in your game is pregnant, so why shouldn't she have the pregnant moodlet. Do you mean it doesn't go away after she gave birth ?
- Lovelorn is a known issue as stated above.
- The high school tense moodlet went away after the 4 hours were over.
Bit at loss, tbh.
- 6 years ago@crinrict I followed your process with the toddler, nothing changed.
The pregnant moodlet for the third trimester stuck after I had the baby. I sent you the file as it was right as the issues began.
The fire buff was "Tense" from getting lit on fire.
I AM surprised the high school moodlet went away, I had to reset the whole family.
I appreciate that you looked. I wonder if my game is corrupt.- 6 years ago
This was weird but I think I figured it out.
@crinrict reapplying the trait DOES work. I seem to have several issues at once, but the sad buff was fixed.
However, and this is interesting, I noticed that now I have stuck buffs from the INDEPENDENT trait that I used to replace the Charming trait initially. I no longer have the trait, so I know that's a leftover buff. So the bug persists, but now I am free from the negative consequences...for now.
For anyone else who needs this help: by applying the Charming trait to my toddler, they were assaulted by a never ending moodlet. I replaced the trait in CAS, and with cheats, but the moodlet remained.I reinstalled (you might not need to) and I reapplied the Charming trait to the toddler, and THEN I interacted with family members. The moodlet finally went away. As for the adult sims I had with this problem, I cheated the trait back in using traits._apply_trait and interacted with family and friends, triggering the social need. This IS solving it for me.
I think this means you need to reapply the trait that is related to the issue, if you have removed it, and then address the sims needs directly.
I don't know if this will keep happening or not, but this works.
The other issues are for another thread, I think. Thank you again, @crinrict- crinrict6 years agoHero+@acissej324 The removed traits, still buff has a thread here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-INPUT-A-Removed-traits-still-cause-moodlets-no-cheats-used/td-p/7130611/
Did the sim have the moodlets at the time you changed traits ?
As for the rest, I'll play through the pregnancy then to see if that gets stuck as well.
