Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have a crystal tree sprouted on your lot, and research it
What happens when the bug occurs? No entry for a crystal tree appears in your notebook
What do you expect to see? Either there should be no option to research a crystal tree, or researching it results in a notebook entry
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

I am having a similar issue as OP, except I can't even get a Gardening Tab on my Notebook to present itself in the first place, no matter how much I research. No tab, no entries.
It is not :D It goes to old topic and our messages are merged with it, at least for me! Anyway, just in case, the topic from January is: 'Researching some plants does not result in notebook entry'.
Your issue sounds like a new bug unfortunately, I suggest creating a new topic for it.
