[OPEN] Roof clipping through walls

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? Norsk
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.63.136.1010
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All, except My First Pet stuff and Eco Lifestyle
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Build a house with at least two floors, make the upper floor smaller than the bottom floor, place roof on top of bottom floor.
What happens when the bug occurs? The roof conflictes with the interior on the upper floor, and I’m not able to place furniture or decoration on that part of the upper floor.
What do you expect to see? Being able to furnish and decorate the upper floor without it conflicting with the roof.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Either one of these patches: Update 06/03/2020 OR Update 6/10/2020.

I have tried deleting the roof and replacing it, but it didn’t help.

  • I'm having this roof clipping issue worse since the last patch (as of Sept. 2024). Roofs will sometimes appear in rooms as I'm building, then disappear again when I add a wall. It's weirdly inconsistent.
  • This is happening to me too. For some reason, roofs don't consider rooms with half-walls or fences as enclosed "rooms" for the purposes of not having the roof go through the walls.

For example: I wanted to make a two-story foyer that had stairs going up to the second story. I created the hallway upstairs by using a fence instead of a full wall - this created two rooms upstairs, I was able to delete the floor of the room over the foyer and place my stairs connecting to the fence wall. Everything works. Then I start roofing. In order to get the roof to look like I want, I had to drag part of it inside across the upstairs hallway and second-story foyer (open to below). In all of the rooms with full walls, the roof considers the room enclosed and disappears. In the hallway and open foyer, the roof doesn't consider the rooms as enclosed because of the wall that is a fence, and the roof shows up in the room.

Image 1 shows the room as one room, my workaround to keep the roof out. Image 1.5 shows where I had my fence originally, to create my two-story open foyer. Image 2 shows what happens if you put a fence there with my roofing in place, aka it deletes my stairs and the roof comes inside because the room is no longer considered enclosed.
