I just had this problem, but I figured out the issue and found a workaround, at least to the point of being able to actually save my game without the error. I was having no issue saving at all until a few minutes ago; my sims are on a Residential Rental, but I had merged the families by this point and the only rental space wasn't being used, plus it was duplicated on the Owned Businesses menu, so I decided to just switch the lot back to a normal Residential lot. I tried to save shortly after this because my pause button was acting buggy (pressing Play after being paused, the play button highlighted, but game was still paused) thus I wanted to restart the game. I got that error when I tried.
Since the ONLY thing I had done was change the lot type, I switched it back to Rental and can save again.
I do play with mods, so I closed the game, removed mods and deleted the localthumbcache and reloaded that save; tried the same thing, switched the lot back to Residential and tried to save, got the same error again. Put it back to Rental and the game is saving fine.
Hopefully this info will help; staying Residential Rental isn't ideal, but at least I can save on it lol.

Oh, that's actually super helpful. I had also merged families on a residential rental lot and it was when I was trying to change it to normal residential to renovate the space etc that I noticed the error. You're right, it's less than ideal but if it means I can actually save then so be it.
- 2 years ago@PrplPnk I was having the same issue. Tried your fix of putting it back to rental and now I can save. Thanks!

Product: The Sims 4
Platform: PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? 100%
What is your current game version number? 1.107.151.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All Expansions, All Game Packs (minus Batuu), All Stuff Packs, and the two Kits that were offered for free
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Load a sim onto a Residential, Tiny Residential, or Haunted House Residential Lot and Change the Lot to Residential Rental, Save the Game, then switch back to any of the other three residential lots and try to save.
What happens when the bug occurs? An Error occurs when trying to Save: Error Code: 300:ef52153:5dfb61ac The game will not save.
What do you expect to see? The game to save.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Mods have been removed
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Not sure.Okay, I just did a bunch of testing. I REMOVED my Mods Folder and repaired my game. For every test, I started a new game.
Had a sim save on a Residential, Tiny Residential, and Haunted House Residential lot. Of course, saving just on those lot types was no issue. I changed the lots to a Residential Rental and if I DID NOT SAVE the game as the RR lot type and switched back to any of the other three lots, the game Saved with no issue.
Every Time I changed to RR and saved the game, then switched back and tried to save the Error would occur.
It seems that Residential Rental lot types break the lot when changed off that type after the lot has been saved as one.
Just to be thorough, I had my sim travel to another lot (a Residential) and could save the game. I also had him move, which was... interesting? He purchased the lot as Residential, I changed it to Rental, right? Well, I didn't set up units and I think the game bugged and flagged him as "tenant" or something because when he moved, he only had just over 5k simoleons. That bit wasn't so weird, I still had to sell all his furniture. However, when he purchased the lot next door (I think 3.2k) the drop-down menu to Keep or Sell Furniture was grayed out. And when my sim loaded onto his new Residential home, he has 0 simoleons and just received the Rosebud Achievement. O_o I don't know what exactly to make of that one lol (see screenshot for confusion) And I could save without issue.
In Conclusion: Residential Rental lot type breaks the lot and makes it impossible to save if the lot type is changed. The only work arounds are Keep the lot Residential Rental or have a Sim Leave the Lot and Save elsewhere.
