This happens on the trails on the mountain, too, where the cave statues are, the natural cove, etc. If you click on the board and tell sims to hike, they just stand there and never move.
I've been watching a group of sims stand at the trail board and play through an endless loop of standing idles for five hours now. The sun is on its way down, so I guess I'll send them back to their lodging and NOT actually get to play through their vacation. What a fun adventure it was, watching my sims stand in one place all day, NOT do what they were directed to do, and play through the same standing idle over and over and over and over again instead. How fun!
I'm so glad I spent so much money on this EP only to have NOTHING WORK.
Hiking is broken. Completely BROKEN. It used to work...it used to be one of my favorite features...but it doesn't work at all anymore. Now it's just idle animations stuck on an endless loop, just like pretty much everything else in this game.
If EP features are a "limited time only" kind of thing, as in they work for a while and then stop working entirely only to never be fixed, you should probably be more clear about that with your customers. When people purchase an EP, they expect to be able to PERMANENTLY add those features to their game, not just get to use them once or twice only to have them never work again.
Have any modders been able to fix this yet, since EA evidently can't (or won't)? I just want to be able to use the features I've paid for. Fix this please, EA...or if you can't figure out how to fix it, ask someone who knows how to code to fix it for you so your customers can have what they've paid for, because this is ridiculous. It's downright ridiculous how many features are flat out broken in this game.
Since they fixed the stairs issue my hiking works without issue. If you could I would recommend sending your save to EA.
From the let’s play which I sometime watch none of them had any issue with hiking, so it would say it is not a common problem, so they need saves from user which suffer from this. (<- because its not a common bug you will not find a mod for it)
SE is one of the EP works fine and almost all bugs are fixed (I only suffer from skiing boots issue (work-a-round fix it) + I think lifestyles are still bad from a gameplay aspect view)
