[OPEN] Skill gain indicator getting stuck over a sim

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.59.73.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? University, seasons pets, get to work Magicians, Parents, Spa, Outdoor Luxury Party Stuff Holiday Celebration Stuff
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I think it occurs when you ALT + TAB without first pressing ESC to get the menu up.
What happens when the bug occurs? Sometimes the skill gain indicator over a sims head gets stuck and shows full all the time, and I think this also makes the "Acquired new lvl skill" notice window to NOT appear either.
What do you expect to see? That the skill gain indicator/gauge appears as normal.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Skill gain indicator/gauge getting stuck/bugged over a sim. Probably if you ALT +TAB while in direct game. Seems to work ok if you first press ESC to get the game menu before ALT + TAB

  • Also happens to me often on PlayStation 4. I could spend hours in sim time practicing a skill to get NO gain from it. Completely freezes and wastes so much time.

  • I find this happens a lot with children and toddlers, especially. Knitting seems to do it for children, and for toddlers it’s after using the tablet.

  • My game has bugged to hell since the last update, I've now got this going on too. Seriously every time a bug is fixed 3 more are created. I've exited the save file, nothing. I've exited to main menu, nothing. I've exited game and turned off my console, still nothing. It happened suddenly in the middle of playing, my sims were doing random tasks and when they finished the bar was still floating, so i don't know what caused it, specifically.

  • @siirysiir I have not tried that yet, I've had my sims grinding skills at home for a few in game days now. I'll give it a try. 😃

@SimmerFrustrated Good, let us know if that helped! Another thing I forgot to mention, going to CAS has worked too if I recall correctly. I've thought that because resetting the sim doesn't work, then the sim has to be reloaded in another way so I've tried travelling or going to CAS and I've always had the issue resolved somehow. I wish I got a skill bar stuck right now so I could easily tell which was the trick that worked definitely. :D
  • @siirysiir I can't help you with the CAS option, unfortunately, you're suggestion of travelling with the sim worked out for me, so thanks for that! 😃 I really wish these little bugs would quit, though. I recently deleted all my saves and the game got the new update, now every time I start it up there's a problem of some sort and it's so frustrating having to deal with something new every day ☹️

@SimmerFrustrated I'm glad it helped! But yeah I feel you, I'm so done with the bugs too that I haven't really been feeling like playing lately. Maybe if they'll do a few huge bug fixing patches back to back I might be persuaded to see if it's worth my time to play again.. 🙂
