If you replace the can, and maybe the outdoor one too, can you drag and drop the trash to the can yourself then? When this happened to me, I eventually resolved it by dragging and dropping every single piece of trash on the lot to a nanocan (normal trash cans didn’t work). Once there was no old trash left on the lot, new trash that generated could be thrown out by the Sim again.
Of course, I’d also restarted and reset the game a few times by then. And deleted and replaced multiple trash cans. Drag-and-drop had not worked on previous cheaper trash cans.
Edit: As a side note... you mention Brindleton Bay. That was the same world it happened to me in, with a fluffy cat that left fur piles all over the house. I wonder if it’s somehow related to not keeping up with pet trash?
It might help, but I already had the nanocan and tried to drag and drop all my garbage. While one of the piles had originally been pet poop (which I was trying to pick up for fertilizer), most of them had been normal trash from repairing. I'm not sure how it would be solely related to pet trash, but I'll try the suggestions.
- PipMenace5 years agoHero@whitejade1979 Yeah I'm not sure how or why specifically it would be pet trash, but mine started on cat fur in Brindleton (and became all trash on the lot) and I just thought it was interesting yours was the same world and you also had a pet. There were only one or two other people who had the issue when I first brought it up: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Trash-Cans-Stop-Working-on-Some-Lots/td-p/9305638
Fingers crossed replacing the trash cans works for you!
