[OPEN] [V] [W] [GTW] Going to work as occult randomizes work outfit

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.89.214.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of them the except eco-lifestyle and journey to batuu
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1)Have a sim be an occult with a second form (Vampire, werewolves, etc.) 2) Have them join a career. 3)Have them transform to their second form such as the dark form for vampires 4)Career outfits will be randomized P.S. Trying to fix via cheats using modify career outfits temporarily fixes it, however upon transformation to second form; it randomizes it again
What happens when the bug occurs? Career outfits become randomized
What do you expect to see? Career outfits to not be randomized upon occult sim's transformation to dark form or werewolf form
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. 1.89.214.1030

  • I have the same problem with sims that are vampires or werewolves. But I've noticed that it doesn't happen in all careers, just some. For example, my sim as a vampire or a werewolf in the military career always had random work outfit, while the other was an secret agent, and this problem never occurred.
It's a shame this problem has been around for so long and hasn't been fixed yet. :/

@awesomeKriSStian So, what I've observed is that outfits that are unlocked by careers (ones with a gold/yellow outline) are ones that are bugging out. The outfits for careers like engineer or secret agents are not unlocked by careers. I've found that I had to use clothes not unlocked by careers for the outfit to work. It's frustrating that I can't use the outfits specific for the career, but it is a workaround for me. For example, with the doctor and scientist careers, the outfits with lab coats don't apply to the second form as it is an unlockable outfit through the career. I've had to use the lab coat from Strangerville to get something similar to the outfit that would work.

  • It's been a year since my last reply and this is still occurring. I have a video showcasing what everyone is talking about. Career outfits will not apply to the second form, so when an occult with a second form goes into it, it randomizes the career outfit. I found a way to bypass this by making career outfits using non-career clothing. It does make it difficult to replicate some of them (i.e. the officer branch in military career). I really hope this can get a fix because I love using the career outfits made specifically for that career instead of trying to find a good alternative.

Here is the video showcasing an example of a career outfit not working and me having to make an alternative for it to work.

It seems I'm having the same issue with my alien sim who works in the doctor career. She, of course, goes to work in her disguise and the correct work outfit might apply right after a promotion, but soon enough it will reset to some random outfit. This happens whether I follow her to work or not, and also happened when she was staying over at her sister's house.

I can confirm this only happens with the unlockable outfits, and not even the Fashion Authority mod could fix this. Any piece of clothing from the doctor career would convert into some random, non-unlockable outfit. I used that same mod to make an outfit that resembles a scrub using normal clothes and it worked.

IMO it's specially problematic that this happens to aliens, since the game "pushes" you to stay disguised, which is their secondary form. This bug makes it impossible to play GTW as an alien without exposing your true identity.

  • I'm having this issue too. My vampire sim who work as a doctor won't wear her career outfits. By the way, she goes to work everyday in her normal form, not the dark form.

  • So, it seems there is a bit of a workaround that doesn't involve using items from other packs, but does include a cheat. Before, when going into cas to edit work outfits using sims.modify_career_outfit_in_cas, it would edit the career outfit, but show all the other outfits. It would be fine for humans and occults with one form. Occults with two forms were screwed as switching to their second form would change the career outfit to their everyday, making any changes in their second form to their everyday outfit instead of the career outfit. Well now, after some update (between Lovestruck and Life and Death), when using the cheat to edit career outfits, it only shows career outfits. This means you can now freely go into their second form and change their outfit without worry of changing their everyday wear.

Due to this, you can manually choose the work outfit on both the human form and second forms for occults. I know this bug is triggered when the occult sim changes into their second form. I gave it a try. I applied a career unlocked outfit (one not automatically applied to the second form upon selection) to both forms and confirmed the changes. He was still in his career outfit and it saved. I had him transform into his werewolf form and the career outfit stuck. I shifted him back and he was still in the career unlocked outfit I selected for him. I went back into cas (using the cheat) and it stuck. So, it seems that as long as the outfit is applied to both forms (which you can now do thanks to some recent update), your occults with second forms won't radomize their work outfits every time they change forms. Unfortunately, this doesn't work for career unlocked outfits that are hidden (like the fisherman outfit and the soccer cleats for the athletics career). But, for most jobs, this little workaround works (at least for me). That is, if you don't mind using the cheat to modify it.

    Cheat: sims.modify_career_outfit_in_cas

Edit: Here are screenshots to show what I'm talking about.

The outfit itself, which is a career unlockable and will not automatically apply to the second form.

My sim with this outfit applied in his human form.

My sim with this outfit applied in his second form.

My sim in his career outfit (human form) in live mode.

My sim in career outfit after transforming into second form in live mode.

At this point, the outfit would have been randomized the moment he changed into his beast form (well randomized in human form upon transforming back and disappearing in beast form). Since it's been applied to both forms, it sticks despite the numerous transformations.
