Previous / current career levels do not count towards Renaissance aspiration

I saw the thread and looks the problem existed since 2014. I believe my thread (the original post) should be merged, I have updated my first post explaining some details of the issue.

It seems that EA/Maxis didn't code the game to check for the careers so that the appropriate goals would be completed if the Sim reached the level thus causing the game to think that a Sim hasn't reached the appropriate level until they get promoted. Maybe EA assumed that you would get the goal before you would reach the appropriate level (such as Level 5 of Tech Guru) but I'm not sure.

Hey @crinrict looks that the version 1.5 update (March 26 patch) has fixed this bug. Any Reach Level of Career goals will now read the correct number or complete when the Sim reaches at or past the level.

In one of my saves pre-patch, the goal Reach Level 3 of 2 careers read 0/2 although Rebecca had gotten level 3 of 2 careers already. Post-patch, it gets completed. Likewise, I had Rebecca reach the next milestone where the goal Reach Level 3 or 3 careers correctly reads 2/3 instead of 0/3.

The bug still exists. One of my Sims is trying to complete the third Public Enemy aspiration milestone (Milestone III: Criminal Mind). The Sim has achieved Boss +1 level in criminal career but when the needed criminal career level for aspiration milestone is only 4. I changed the aspiration when my Sim was level 9 in criminal career so now she has got two promotions when Public Enemy aspiration has been active.

EDIT: It looks like DIDLilGirls just explained the situation. I believe my save game is quite old and that may be the reason why those aspirations doesn't work. I'll start new game tomorrow.

EDIT 2: It's definitely broken. I started new game and my Sim has now level 5 in Criminal Career. My progress doesn't count.

my sim is in level 7 of the tech guru career, and in the computer whiz aspiration he needs to reach level 5 of the same career. for some reason, he's current career level does not count... can anyone help?

@crinrict some career goals are bugged. Reach Level 5 of Tech Guru Career will not be checked if a Sim does get promoted. A workaround is to quit the job and rejoin the job. One of my Sims was at level 6 Tech Guru Career and didn't have the goal checked, I made her quit and joined Tech Guru, she got demoted to Level 5 but the goal is now checked.

The workaround of quitting the Tech Guru job at level six and restarting at level five worked for me to complete the Computer Whiz aspiration. It's obviously still a bug though.

Not sure if yours is the same as this thread was about the renaissance aspiration. 

Some others might have posted in here but it was initially about that.
