I am experiencing this bug once again as well. My game is modded. This is a really old save file (2015), and the sims was probably born before the patch that was supposed to fix this. I'll load without mods and see if it still happens.
EDIT: I just loaded my game without mods, and had the child pull out their tooth. The corruption did not happen, so it must be mod related then. If I ever find out which mod, I'll report back.
