Re: [ARCHIVED] Parents need to introduce themselves to their toddlers

My sim and his wife have had two children together, and for each child at least one of the parents has had to do an introduction before they could do anything else. I can't remember exactly which parent it happened to for both times, but I know one was the father because it happened after he aged the baby up to a toddler and he wasn't even able to put her down or do anything. I thought my toddler was going to be stuck being held by the father, but luckily saving and reloading put the toddler on the floor.

Before anyone goes shouting "remove your mods!", I'm playing just the base game on an Xbox One which means no mods.

EDIT: Just wanted to edit this to note some observations about things that I've seen now after my family has had a total of 6 children. First off, it seems like you can tell which parent will be affected by looking at the relationship level when a baby is born. The parent that will be affected seems to be the only one in the household that doesn't gain a high relationship, while everyone else gets a nice start to theirs and never have to do any introductions.

For example there are 8 sims in my household now including twins that just aged into toddlers, and for both toddlers they jumped right to good friend status with everyone else except their father who didn't even become a friend. I've noticed this with the previous children as well, everyone got a nice relationship from the start except the father. The mother has been fine, the other siblings have been fine, but the father starts with a low relationship and has to introduce himself. This makes me believe that when it happens to a parent, they will always be affected.

Also if the affected parent tries to age up a baby into a toddler, the toddler will be stuck being held by that parent unless you take measures to reset them. One of the easiest ways I've found to do this without cheats or mods is to go into build mode, then grab any object that can be placed on the floor and temporarily place it on the same tile as the sim holding the toddler. It should force both to sort of reset, placing them both nearby with the toddler now on the floor.

One other thing that I tried I feel I should mention. With these twins I had the mother age up one while the father aged up the other, yet the father still had to introduce himself to both so it doesn't seem to matter who ages up the child.

My couple had twins and when aged up, they had to attempt introduction to their famous parents, which I find sickening.   Also the parents would not put the toddlers down and even attempted to use the gaming motion mat with the toddlers in their arms!  It was hilarious, but I had to age the kids up to adults as these parents were totally useless.  More interested in themselves than their new twins.  Funny, but very annoying to play.  So these poor twins had hardly any childhood and no teen years, they were adults in minutes as I was tearing my hair out!  Lol
