Unfortunatly, no it doesn't stop to occult sims. I have the exact same problem on my normal sims. I even gave her ambrosia, but the bug still continues...

After trying all kinds of method that could debug the sim, I found one that works :
As my sims is an highschooler, she went to school. When she came back the bug stopped. So maybe if you let your sim go to work, it could debug him
I also think that this bug is affiliated with the statue "infinite possibilities" (or something similar to that, my game is not in english). Because it kept saying "8 hours remaining".

As I don't have the effect anymore I can't send a picture, but I can describe :
If you don't understand what I mean by "statue", i'm talking about the square things under your sim in the bottom-left corner of the screen that impact the emotion of your sim (I can't describe it in english, sorry) : For exemple, if he slept well, he's gonna have +2 happiness, ect
And that square thing i'm talking about despicted a happy ghost that gave +2 inspired. And the name was something similar to "infinite possibilites"

Were you able to get rid of the "infinite possibilities" moodlet? I waited for it to go away, but it came back and my sim is still stuck reacting to becoming a ghost
My sim didn't have a job before becoming a ghost and won't go long enough without reacting to becoming a ghost to open the panel to find a job, so I can't even attempt to send her to work
I think the cheatcode "careers.add_career {careername}" can give your sim a job.
And thank you for the word "moodlet", i'm dumb I didn't know it was called like that đ
I solved the problem for my sim by teleporting her to the town hall in the world I was in and then having her use one of its functions. It seems like using any rabbit hole will fix it, not just jobs. I also got rid of the 8 hr moodlet about turning into a ghost via cheats while she was in the rabbit hole (although when I tried cheats before using the town hall, it kept coming back).
I had this issue and used the rabbit hole of shopping in Battu it fixed the issue (I went into the lightsabre shop).... the one and only thing Battu is useful for!
The only problem was HOW she became a ghost... I sent a sim off for a jog in the daytime she was due to turn into a vampire
I didn't get a notification she HAD turned she was still jogging and hadn't bared teeth. Died of sun exposure. If I'd have known
I would have cheated her to prevent death.
Evidently this bug is also affecting vampires. If I'm to guess, it implies they're also dead, although.. not ghosts...

I can confirm I play on ps5 so no mods. To be honest nothing really works well from the new expansion pack. I had 2 Sims die. One as a ghost that never stops reacting. The other the rebirth didn't take me to the neighbourhood to chose where to send him. Happened both with immediate rebirth and swimming in the lake. Can I give you my file as a ps5 user?
I had this problem, too. It was right after the Grim Reaper Rewards and the Life & Death pack came out. I did not buy the new expansion. My Realm of Magic sim died, became a playable ghost, ate Ambrosia, and came back to life. She wouldn't stop reacting to becoming a ghost and I could barely get her to do anything, including fulfilling her needs. I tried a reset cheat and it didn't work. I also tried going to other areas (neighborhoods, Magic Realm). What finally worked was this: after she died AGAIN (from starvation) and she became a ghost, I had her give money to the wishing well and then wish for life (which wasn't easy because I had to keep clicking over and over since she kept reacting to being a ghost). She was resurrected and she stopped acting buggy. I don't know if other people will have luck with this or not.

Thank you all for this, it's an annoying glitch. I couldn't get my sim to get a job but managed to get them to go volunteer somewhere. I had to get them to the edge of the plot where they enter and volunteer through the phone, made them off somewhere and reset just like you said.
Thank you so much, it would have been upsetting to lose my progress with this sim as I'm working on maxing them out on all skills and careers - and im nearly there! You guys saved the mission!
Thank you soo much for sharing this solution! I played a non-occult sim too and had the same problem. For me sending them to a rabbit hole activity worked.
