Re: [BY DESIGN] "Set as Front Door" Problems

The problem seems to happen if you place a deck or room above and overhanging an outside door. It's as if the coding states that if a build item occupies a space above and in front of a door, that door is now set as an inside door. If you have a deck in front of your door, it's fine as long as you don't give it a ceiling. Once you do, your door also becomes an inside door.

The only way to correct this is to give outside doors a different code, which means you would either have to separate the doors into different groups so people know, or change the code on all doors so that inside doors could become front doors. The only other alternative that I could possibly see is to just give the first door or the last door placed in the house, front door status. This is probably why this problem hasn't been addressed before as I really can't see an elegant solution.

Yet more: Perhaps somebody else can give this some thought, and see if they can figure out how to address this problem?

I concur with your completely broken post.  In my game, placing or not placing decks/rooms above the doors didn't make any difference.  It was simply a matter of whether the foundation was elevated more than one notch up.  The only way to get access to the functionality again was to drop the foundation back down.

Would it hurt us so if they just offered set as front door on all doors regardless? It might make an extra step for those who don’t specifically set something they expect to already work, but then for those of us that can’t get it to work it would be the ultimate solution. That would offer up more build options as well, with people being able to create front doors in any part of the build. Might be wacky if someone wanted an actual inside door to become the front, but I’m not judging someone else’s game play! I’ve done everything possible to make my front door work and other than removing my entire front deck and pergola, it’s a no. And the point in the front deck and pergola is that I want it. Yeah.... why should we not be able to have a front deck just because we also want a raised foundation?

I don't know how they haven't fixed this yet. I was wondering what this issue was and I keep getting it. I was amazed when I saw how long the forum posts go back on this issue.

I guess they care more about releasing limited pack content rather than fixing actual issues in their game.

@sunxiemei If you have the OP's issue, you can see that's actually by design as stated by QA.

If you have the one that the person on the last page had, that sounds different and a new thread would be best.
