Re: [BY DESIGN] Sims never get killed by fire after rocket crash

I've gotten word that this is currently working as designed. Sims aren't supposed to be able to be killed by rocket ship.

Maybe ask SimsVIP and Carl why they put it in their guides ? Did they actually experience it ?

    Marked this as By Design.

I just loaded up our shipped Base Game and got a rocket to crash, and it works the same way. Nothing ever changed, death by rocket ship has never existed in this game.

I don't know how the guides are written but if based on the officially Maxis/EA approved Prima Guide, I can see why they would have included the info.  Page 75 of the Prima Guide doesn't specifically say you can catch on fire and die from a rocket ship crash, just mentions death is possible by fire.  However, the picture used to illustrate possible death by fire is of an astronaut on fire by a crashed rocket ship with the caption "Put out those flames or your Sim may burn to death."

Gosh, @SimGuruNick thanks for taking the time to check out base game as shipped.  That was awfully nice of you.  I have no problem accepting it's by design but have a feeling this question is going to come up again over the course of time.

But I've had one sim die after crashing with a rocket ship. It was very early on but I believe some time after GTW was released. I had added the older twin sims I believe a guru at the time had uploaded (I remember one sim being named Kai) and made the rocket among other things after moving them in to a lot, one went to space with the rocket and the other made food to have ready for when his brother came back.

Well, both died. The cooking sim started a fire just after the rocket crash landed and a fire killed one twin to then have the other die of the fire in the kitchen because I hadn't added a shower, only a bathtub, and the other sim couldn't help his brother as he was also busy dying.

Quickest game session I've ever had, also a very memorable one. Which is why I'm confused as to it actually never being possible to being with since my sim died of crashing (or rather a fire caused by the crash, but that is what the thread is about). Did I simply encounter a bug then since I haven't experienced it since?
