@crinrict Thank you for the reply. 🙂 Hm, I don't know excactly why I was able to connect offline with the gallery, but I can try to explain it a little bit more: I often did not update my game for months with Origin, for different reasons. In those times I naturally had to go offline into the game and play. If I wanted to use the gallery, I just clicked on the gallery symbol and then "Connect" (Verbinden), like in the picture below. Even though I played offline, I was still able to always manually connect to the gallery ingame and search and download everything that I wanted, except builds that were shared after the new patch I didn't had. Those were greyed out, but that was ok, because the gallery had thousands of other builds to offer.
But now this is not possible anymore. If I go with the EA App offline into the game (no matter if my game has the latest patch or not) I can click "connect", but nothing ever happens. It's an infintive loading screen like this.
So something must have been changed there, because before with Origin I did connect with the gallery on a daily basis, even though I went offline into the game.
- crinrict2 years agoHero+@MissLjupka Did you ever check if Origin was actually still offline when you did this ? Usually what I connected with Origin offline, origin went online and then you got connected.
Now since they changed the way the connection works (it's not permanent anymore) you always have to re-connect whether you are online or offline.
With Origin this was kind of a two way step. Connect origin first (that happened in the background) and then the game had to connect to the gallery and it works. EA app doesn't seem to be able to connect in the background at all on it's own. If you put it on offline, Sims can't make it go online (different to Origin) so you need to first put ea app manually in online mode and then connect Sims.
So in my experience, Origin always went online anyways if you wanted to connect to the gallery.
Since two factors have changed though and I'm unsure if I ever tried between the connection change and ea app change, it's hard to tell if it's just something you can't do anymore (then it should tell you in some why or not even offer) or if it's an issue with EA app that just can't connect go online in the background on it's own. - StorybookLady2 years agoSeasoned Ace
@crinrict Uhh you just gave me an idea!! 🙂 I tried something else: I started the game in offline mode, then switched back to the EA App and set it to online. Then ingame I could finally connect with the gallery!!! YAY!! ❤️ Thank you!!
Although...my game is currently fully updated, I still have to check if it works the same way if I don't have the latest update. But I am very happy that you replied to me and wrote all your thoughts about how Origin used to work. I would have never thought that the solution might be that easy and obvious. Maybe someone else wondered the same like me and this helps them out.
Thank you for your work.
