Re: [FIXED] Applied skin details are not saved/removed

Hello there,

I just helped my brother out who had the EXACT same problem here: (CC) Skin details not staying after leaving CAS. By a miracle I fixed his by:

1. Deleting the localthumbscache.package file.

2. Loading Up Sims

3. Loading a 'Save As' file from a previous save date (where the problem still occurred).

4. Once his turn loaded, I went to his library (I could've used the cloud save too) and placed his saved, duplicate character in a lot.

5. From there, I went to 'household management' and switched out his broken character with the new copy I just got from his library and then loaded up the household with the new one.

6. I used a mirror in the house to enter CAS with the new copied Sim and added the skin to him, which finally worked perfectly.

7. Then, I left to 'Go manage world', without saving, and loaded up the household with the broken character, then went back to 'Manage Household'. There, I changed the household name of the broken character to something else.

8. After that, I went to CAS and deleted all the characters that were in the household with the broken sim.

9. Then, when that sim was alone, I applied the skin and immediately hit the check mark to save that progress.

10. In the portrait, it didn't look like the skin was really changed, but I didn't click the edit thing again to check--all I did was trade the broken Sim back to his original household and put the new  Sim in his current lot.

11. Then, I loaded up the original household and the skin worked! It finally stayed on the old sim.

This could've just all been luck, but it's exactly what I did tonight. Good luck y'all!

is there any other way you can explain this, like a video or something, i've been trying to undestand but my head gets messed up hahaha. I'm glad you were able to help your borther btw.

  • The thing is, I'm horrible at explaining things! hehe So the problem isn't you, it's ME lol And sorry, I'm not good at making videos, so I can't help there. But I will try to simplify my initial post, although, this solution will NOT work for everyone, so please keep that in mind.

    1. Delete the localthumbscache.package file

    2. Loading a 'Save As' file from a previous save date.

    3. Once the turn loads, goto your library/cloud and place your saved/duplicated character into an empty lot.

    4. Go to 'household management' and switch out your broken character with the new copy of that character (Just switch them between households).

    5. Play the turn with your newly added character and add the skin to that one.

    6. Then, go to 'Manage world', without saving, change the household name of the broken character to something else, and load that turn on the empty lot, then go to CAS.

    7. There, delete any characters that came with that household you brought in from the library/cloud save, so that only your broken character remains.

    8. Apply the skin and immediately hit the check mark to go back to 'Manage Household'.

    9. Next, click the household with the broken character and switch him back to his/her original household, sending the fake one back to his.A simple switch between them really.

    10. Then, I load up the original household and the skin should work.

I hope this can help someone out there from this very frustrating issue that took me over an hour to solve!!! There's probably a shorter way to fix this, but this is all I know that has worked for us so far.

Sorry for the late reply. I tried something different. Apparently this issue only happens in a particular save. I save one of my households in my gallery (I had issues with overlays not showing up in game with this particular family, well... one of many haha) and I put them in a new save and it worked just fine. Now the question is, is there any way I can tranfer many households to a new save without losing any connection or progress?. I currently play with a royal family and there's uncles, nieces, nephews , etc, and if I move them just like that to a new save  they will become complete strangers. Also, I want to avoid any weird interaction between relatives hahaha. what a mess

I'll find a better way to explain this haha. Is there any way to actually tranfers a world or household to a new save withouth erasing relations and the family tree? I know there's a mod that allows you to do this, but is for the sims 3 only.

Hi please just check my previous post, you don't need to trick the game by moving saves or whatever lol, just to update your skin's mods with sims4tray, i ve explained everything in my previous post! ^^"

    Hi, thanx for the reply:]

I did try what you said on your comment. However, anything change. As I said before, at this point I strongly believe is a save matter. Any of my other saves nor new ones have this problem even when using the exact same overlays I've been using all this time..
