I saw it in the live steam in cutaway view spiked walls and empty next door apartments. It's unbelievable that this issue has been ignored for over a year but that's not bad enough it's now in this new type of lot. Do they not see this problem. I'm putting off this new patch as long as possible, afraid what bugs might be introduced and never fixed that would be game breaking such as for city living. I'm so done spending anymore of my money on this game.
Yeah, I won't be buying this one. There's enough disappointment already.

There is nothing about a fix in the latest laundry list. I felt certain they'd fix the apartment walls when they released the new pack. Guess I was wrong...
It's literally part of the game play in the new pack. All the new rentals have it. They're trying to pass it off as a feature and most people don't even realize it's a bug. I'm beyond aggravated.
If anyone didn't see the video (pic from SimsLifeStory on twitter)
I saw in one video, just like city living and eco life, seeing the outside from the inside on a broken wall. I don't know how anyone would think this is ok. What a mess.
- merrysimmaker2 years agoSeasoned Veteran@oopsiesims the new pack is going to have the same issue? Just wanted to be sure I understood that correctly. That would be awful if they did have the same issue. My husband says its a rendering issue and a crazy easy fix. He could be wrong though. He does completely different software than gaming.
Yes they are broken in the new pack you can see it in the live stream and peoples videos who got the pack early to make videos to help sell this pack. I believe they copied part of Eco Life world map for High School pack, the lot that has the prom, etc on. Instead of leaving the apartments they shut them off or something which then broke the apartments to let's say turn them back on, it would screw up Copperdale's world. It not a rendering problem it when a wall touches another wall from the other apartment or common space and certain outside walls. Apparently they are using the apartment tool for the apartments in this pack that is broken. No modder can fix them either.

@oopsiesims I had always figured it was something to do with curved walls, since they were added in the pre-High School Years patch that broke the apartments. Your info says it was actually something to do with Copperdale and not curved walls? Is that confirmed? If confirmed, this might be a detail that could help the devs figure out how to fix this. Thanks!

Yeah, guess all hope is really lost now... I would like too, but it looks like I won't be buying any dlc wether on sale or not ever again. If they would at least say something about whether it's intentional or not(sucks if it is). Then I could stop wasting my time hoping they fix it someday. 😑

I wish there was more we could do to get this resolved. A broken game before it is ever released. They could do so much better IMO.

No it's not confirmed, they haven't confirmed anything about it. It's my opinion because of the lot that switches and the layout of Evergreen Harbor and Copperdale. They are not exacted but the layout is very similar. Copperdale having more water between the districts and one lot that switches. Curve wall should be an easy fix at the most remove them if you can't fix the apartments. Why would they add this broken tool in a new pack and continue to sell City Living broken apartments over a curved wall that no one uses? For them to continue with these broken walls and doors it has to have been a big problem that if they fix it is going to affect something else big like the world of Copperdale, just my opinion but why make a new pack using the tool? If it is the curved wall I wish they would remove it but I truly don't think that's the issue. They do not address the broken walls or doors in the apartments in any shape or form, like it's not even happening. It the most unacceptable thing I have ever seen from a major corporation. It be like Hoover selling a half broken vacuum cleaner and never addressing that their one model is broken but to add to that turn around and use the same broken parts in their new model. It's just so unbelievable, it's just mind boggling.- mumofharry2 years agoSeasoned Ace
In my opinion i dont think they either know how to fix them or they're not bothered which is why its not been mentioned by them. No content creators ever mention it either which is annoying and strange its like nobody cares

So today ive watched a few content creators lets play and not one has mentioned the doors do you think they know something we dont or have been told not to say anything because why wouldn't they i know a few did when it first started in apartments but you'd think the would be surprised it wasn't fixed for the new pack it all seems very strange to me

I saw the same thing while watching the youtube livestream on Dec 1st. The doors in For Rent apartments do not go down with the cutaway walls & the cutaway walls looking into other units are still showing the V bug at wall junctions. This has been a bug for 17 months now with no sign of a fix. To have a bug that breaks the majority of City Living, a portion of Eco Lifestyle & University (dorm lots have this issue too) is one thing. But to take a 17 month old bug & turn it into a $40 pack selling the bug as a feature is just unethical.
This is not just a minor complaint by some players. This is a real problem that will now effect 4 expansions that in total cost players $160 USD! I am absolutely stunned this issue has gone ignored for a year and a half with no word of it even being looked into. But to sell a whole pack around this existing broken code is upsetting in a way I can't express. I have seen on social media players express how excited they are to abandon San Myshuno because it is too broken to play saying they are just going to spend the $40 to build their own apartments instead. But this bug is now a feature in the new For Rent pack. So people are going to buy the pack, be somewhere between disappointed "oh a modder will fix it" or furious because no, if a modder could have fixed it they would have already.
And for me this is a very personal issue. I have Meniere's Disease, it is an inner ear issue that causes dizzyness. For most people it's not really a problem with video games but for some of us fast movements, sudden perspective changes & certain scaling changes can make us sick. So this is a fix that needs to happen on an accessibility level. I currently cannot play in apartments (San Myshuno or Evergreen Harbor) or penthouses (San Myshuno or Britechester dorms) because the constant swinging camera & cut away doors creating a sense of detachement from reality makes me physically ill. I loaded my game last night to test & just trying to move around in the Medina Studios apartments made me so disoriented I got a nose bleed after on a few minutes. I would never have bought these 3 packs at a $120 price tag if I had known they would make me too sick to play in the worlds. I think I probably would still have bought Eco Lifestyle because there are so few apartments but the whole point of City Living & University is to experience city apartment life & going to college & living in a dorm. There are so few lots in Britechester/Foxbury you are forced by the design of the pack to use the highrise penthouses which are too broken to currently use. (There is also a bug in University where editing dorm lots makes them not show up in the moving panel so if you edit a lot or download a lot off the gallery you can't actually live there with your student. That pack has more than a few issues with the dorm life right now).
I am really hoping that the community rally's together and demands a fix to this issue. I am really hoping people don't just shrug it off as a design choice & say "Well a modder will fix it". Console can't be fixed by mods. The game creators have to take responsibility for the code they create. The definition of a bug is anything that negatively effects user experience. I think 17 months of being told "This effects my experience" is enough data to say this is a problem & not to create a whole new $40 expansion to call that bug a feature.Visible doors from the For Rent Livestream Dec 1st, 2023.
Visible V shapes in the cutaway walls at wall junctions in the same livestream with time stamp at bottom.
During the livestream they couldn't even show the mold in the hallway at a normal viewing angle because the doors were an obstruction. They simply swung the camera top down & I instantly felt like I was going to fall off my couch. It gave me a sudden rocket vomit sensation to watch more than half this livestream. They casually did not address the 17 month old bug, they just ignored it hoping no one would notice.

No mention of any fixes in today's patch notes (5 Dec 2023). I'm installing the patch now to see if anything looks different. In the case that it does look different, in that it now matches the rental units from the new For Rent EP, I respectfully request that this bug report not be closed as "fixed". Simply exchanging one set of broken walls for a different set of broken walls is not an acceptable solution in my view.
I'll update this as soon as the patch installs and I am able to test my apartments.
UPDATE: There doesn't seem to be any changes to the apartment walls in this patch. They are still spikey and broken. ☹️

The Culpepper House apartments in San Myshuno after installing today's patch (5 Dec 2023)
The apartment walls did not look like this until after the July 2022 patch that proceeded the High School Years EP. Either the walls in the new rental units for the For Rent EP will also look like this, or EA found a fix for that lot type but did not apply it to the Apartment lot type. Or at least not yet.
Can anyone from EA comment on whether or not this is recognized as a bug, or is this how San Myshuno will look from now on? Any response would be much appreciated.

Simguruninja posted this reply im hoping it relates to all Apartments too also i noticed in the update we can replace apartment windows but it wasn't in the patch notes if they fix the walls it would be perfect
- Apexsimmer10092 years agoSeasoned Hotshot@RandomBuzziness Appreciate you checking as always thx. Disappointing 😑...

@mumofharry Have they ever mentioned what happened to apartment walls after the round walls update in Twitter comments? I’m glad in that snapshot simguruninja is aware of it. I wonder why it’s tough to fix it when some code or whatever changed the way walls cut away
- mumofharry2 years agoSeasoned Ace@skylar45 I dont know tbh you'd think seeing as they broke they'd be able to fix but i do know since the ep more people are complaining about it so fingers crossed they might prioritise it

Tried getting on the sims 4, and playing in apartments again to see if could get used to the horrible walls. I just can't... I'm done I guess I'll be uninstalling the game until further notice. Guess I'll just lurk back in here to check every now and again. Hopefully they'll actually fix it, and not just do what I normally expect of them. Haven't actually played other than cas stuff waiting for fixes for what seems like forever now. It's just depressing hoping for a fix, and never getting any info on wether they even plan to fix it...

Are your cutaway walls bad in all properties? I want to play apartments but the doors not going down is harder for me. The walls are the next biggest issue among all the other things. I've been focusing on building all new custom build sim homes instead, putting a family in and playing a while. I have some cutaway weirdness in homes as well but it isn't as bad I guess just b/c of it being on a lot vs apartment.
I just wanted to share b/c I hate all this too and wish wish wish they would listen and help fix some of these things (and quickly, it shouldn't take years to resolve). I am still so disappointed they carried over all these problems in the new pack and I wish I'd know and not bought it. I was SURE this would have all been fixed. ☹️
