Re: [FIXED] [CoL] Hatchable eggs disappearing/spoiling

I tried to test this bug further. The problem, in my opinion, lies in the fact that there must be a hen always available to brood it. If, for some reason, the egg is left uncovered for too long, it rots. On the other hand, if you try to get at least one hen back into the chicken coop she will lay on top of the egg to keep it warm. If not, simply move the egg to the position where the hen is.
The bug is about animal autonomy (the hens do not realize there is an egg to brood), not so much that you cannot get the egg to hatch. If you pay attention to the hens and get them back into the coop on time, the egg will hatch. @TheSimsDirect

@GiardiniDiMarzo Actually, even the spoiled eggs will hatch. If you have the coop inside a fence, and lock fence for everyone as soon as you incubate the egg, the other chickens will be smelly and mad about their dirty coop by the time the egg hatches - but it WILL hatch if no one can access it to throw it out.

Or, with a smaller household you think you can keep under control, just keep a close eye and don’t let them autonomously clean the coop. When it needs to be cleaned, manually drag the egg out first and put it on the ground somewhere. Then put it pack in when they’re done. 🤷🏼‍♀️

They really do need to fix this though.

@PipMenace Hahah, that's one way of fixing it, but yeah.. Keep a close eye and do not hire a buttler or a ranch hand...

Although I did have instances where random sims would show up at my house, start cleaning stuff and, inevitabley, throw out the egg T-T

@PipMenace Helpful tip for sure! I tried what you said (cleaned everything and put out a bunch of feed to prep for the lockdown) then locked the gait and waited for the egg to hatch... and it did turn rotten before hatching... and I did get my egg hatched! Fantastic workaround! Thank you!! 🙌

    Thanks ❤️

I have just been able to hatch an egg thanks to your suggestions.

It's a bit complicated and the only way to obtain chicks... I really hope that EA could solve this issue too.

I always call all of my hens back to the coop whenever I place a hatchable egg. They'll sit on it all day long. However, at night the chickens disappear when they go to sleep, and that's when the egg rots.
