This started happening not long after getting the new highschool pack, theres always fires. my washer or dryer went on fire around 3 times then the cooker went on fire at least 6 times most of those times it happened in a row. i have to keep replacing everything because of it so im losing money even though ive got at least 5 sims working. another bug that happened at the same time was my sim not being able to take a shower when i press on the shower it says "extinguish self".

@xxmissawsumxx If your sim has a fear of fire; they will cause fires more often so it could be that. If you check where your traits are it will tell you any active fears

@xjodielaura ive played a bit since i made that comment but thankfully its not been as common. i think it was the fear since most of my sims got that fear after the first fire, thanks for telling me.

My sim from a household I have been playing for a while now keeps catching on fire every time she tries to cook. She has level 8 cooking, doesn't have a clumsy trait, and there is no cursed lot trait. Although she does have a fear of fire.

I have tried buying better stoves but it keeps happening, I have even waited for a day to pass in game to see if it would stop, but the issue continues. She basically can't feed herself because she will catch on fire. It is really disrupting gameplay specially because she has the Chef aspiration.

While we are on the fear of fire, every time this happens the sim catches fire too so extinguishing the fire to conquer the fear isn’t even an option.

  • So how do we stop the non stop fire? If the trait is causeing the bug, how do we Fix it please?

@c02b235c2c34a962 The by-design way to have a sim overcome the fear is to wait for a pointy thought bubble to appear in the bottom right of the "wants" area near their portrait, like this

Then do what it says in the bubble. You should get a notification about overcoming, or partially overcoming, the fear. If it says you've completely overcome the fear, the fear should no longer appear in your traits panel.

One problem, that one fire set a fear in 3 sims. So if i cure one, wont she just get it again when i try to cure the second or third? Since each sim will need to extenguish a fire, this is basicly a death spiral. Or will the one cure keep her from getting that trait again?

@c02b235c2c34a962unfortunately no, one cure is not enough 🥲 rn im playing in a 7 sim household and every single of them has the fear and the fires keep happening and since i cant have all of them extinguish one fire, all of them keep getting the fear back and its an endless loop with no way out! istg once i find a way get rid of this fear im never playing with wants and fears ever again

  • More often I expect and I'm cool with that. Every time they try to cook when hungry, is ridiculous.

Hungry, cook up a healthy meal for 8, FIRE. Extinguish self, get rid of fire, repurchase stove & counter tops. Try to cook healthy meal again. FIRE. Extinguish self, get rid of fire, repurchase stove & counter tops. Try to cook healthy meal again. FIRE.

I forgot about this issue, and 3 days later while on a honeymoon with new wife, same Sim tries to cook a healthy meal. FIRE.

Time to level up another Sim's cooking skill and get them the healthy eating trait.

    Edit:

I have no mods. I'm playing on Mac OS. I'm on version 1.97.42.1230. I have no new version available.
