I had this happen too.

Product: The Sims 4
Platform: PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Always, 100%
What is your current game version number? The Sept 18th version. 1.109.185.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed?

All of them (including the 2 new ones) except Bust the Dust.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves?

Go to a restaurant during the date. Either click on a table (and I tried several in the restaurant) or the restaurant seating kiosk. The icon for the server comes up but then disappears. Even waiting to see if the interaction is just slow doesn't have the server show them to the table. (I'm in a fresh save, no mods, clean localcache.package file, using a sushi restaurant from the Gallery that I've saved and use frequently in my game without any difficulty.)
What happens when the bug occurs? 

When you request a table the interactions cancels after the animation of asking for it. (The server *does* seat the townie diners in the restaurant.)
What do you expect to see? 

The server seats the dating pair..
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? 

No
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system?   

Yes. In my regular save last week (before the Sept 18 patch), I had no trouble with my Sims not being able to sit at their favorite table. This time, because I couldn't get them seated at my favorite restaurant, I had my Sims change the date venue to the Spice Festival (which started during their date) so they were able to have a meal together (since eating on the date was one of the date goals.)
