Workaround:
1.Seat a well-fed and well-rested Sim in front of the computer and select University -> Course tasks -> Study -> subject.
2. We wait until the Sim learns the subject of the course (it takes about 4-5 hours) if no one disturbs the Sim. it is good to cut him off from additional stimuli, such as talking with household members, listening to music, etc.
3. After a few hours, your Sim will get the Confidence (Books) Blue Moodlet:
- 1st stage is the "learning mood" - Sim can stop learning for a moment, follow the need, eat something, but we have to watch the time and be careful not to let the moodlet go down.
- 2nd stage - Now the sim returns to learning the same course and we wait until the "well prepared" moodlet appears
4. Now we can finish learning the course subject. This is important because if the Sim learns too long, the sim will get the "nervous" moodlet and he does not know which subject it is and what is happening.
5. With the "well prepared" moodlet, you can easily do homework or prepare a presentation. Sims cannot start learning a new lesson item then.
6. We must pass all required courses this way. Unfortunately, there is no information anywhere in the game that the sim has already learned these courses and he has not learned those yet, so it is worth writing down what we have already done. It is otherwise easy to get confused if a sim studies more than two courses.
7. In one weekend we are able to teach Sim four courses, and if he is, for example, a vampire, he will still have time to make a presentation and write a term paper. Then all that's left is to go to classes and hang around during the week (well, you have to do your homework). Maximum grades guaranteed.
Sim even if he has level 10 skills must go through this whole process and get this moodlet well prepared - vadish38255 years agoSeasoned Veteran
@Lynnsinger209 Back in June 2020 I sent a save file to SimGuruNick for a different issue, but in that message I mentioned this problem. His response was that they are aware of it and are working to fix it. That gave me so much hope back then, until the next like 3 packs came out and months went by with nothing. Idk if tweeting him would help (I doubt it), but according to him their team is aware this problem exists. The thing is that with every new pack comes new problems, and lots of them. Thus, these issues get pushed to the back every time because they're more focused on fixing the new problems. The absolute best way to get their attention is to have a LOT of people choose "Me Too", which doesn't really seem to be the case here.
You mean 14+ Pages of complaints is "not enough people" to bother fixing this bug?
I have been playing DU since its launch and never had issues with it. Maybe I was just lucky, maybe there is indeed a glitch that I somehow managed to avoid. Anyways, here is what I figured out to be always working to get an A+ in every course in any of the degree programs (always taking 4 courses in a term x 3 terms):
① Make sure all the relevant skills are maxed out manually (meaning without the help of cheats/mods) before you enroll. In addition to the major skills (i.e. cooking, painting etc.) I always max out on writing and research/debate since they appear to be adding some bonus whilst studying in general.
② Make sure, there is no CC in any form or shape in your game since, as someone pointed out a while ago, CC computers/laptops may be corrupted (turning in papers or asking profs about progress might not work properly). In addition, I never use cheats/mods in order to alter progress or generate needs/moods
③ Enroll on a Friday so you can finish all your homework, papers and presentations (with "excellent/outstanding" quality) during the weekend and deliver them asap (even before the message "A new term has started" appears on Monday morning). I do hand in the papers on Sundays, presentation boards on Mondays if there is an open time slot.
④ Attend every class with "Take notes" attitude
⑤ Never spend time to study extra hours (not even if the class concludes with a final exam). I usually spend the hours prior to an exam going fishing with a friend. 😉
This procedure has become so much of a routine to me that I play it in 3x speed without ever having problems. And most importantly, none of my Sims had gotten any grade other than an A+. As I said, maybe this works only for me but I'd be glad if some poor Sims out there get the grades they truly deserve. 🥳

I haven't had this issue, but I followed advice online to use Take Notes in work tones. I forgot once and my Sim got a B+ in the class where I forgot.
Sim 1: Super Sim, had most skills maxed including Handiness and Rocket Science before going into Physics, gained Robotics (and vet skill as an elective). Used the Take Notes work tone every time but once, got a B+ on that course. She did all homework/term papers/presentations and did study, but only for like an hour per exam. Final GPA: A+
Sim 2: Mermaid in Sulani tiny house who was an A student in high school and was maybe a painting level 6 before going into the Fine Arts degree. Used the Take Notes work tone religiously, did all homework/term papers/presentations, studied maybe an hour each for exams. Maxed painting and photography in school and also gained high violin and cooking (elective, started at 0). Final GPA: A+
Sim 3: Vampire in tiny house, high school A student, desperately broke. Highest skill was piano--she gained some piano volunteering for character values, and continued with it--so I put her in Fine Arts. Used the Take Notes work tone religiously, did all homework/term papers/presentations, studied maybe an hour each for exams. Ended up with high painting and violin, decent DJ Mixing (elective), maxed flower arranging. Final GPA: A+
I've never sent more than one at a time because it's pretty intense, and have never had them live on campus. That said, I think that you get dinged hard if you don't use Take Notes. Oh, and I made sure they all had at least a 3 in Research and Debate (Super is level 10 because she's Super).
@xochiquetzl_xkvn The main reason for following my course of action as listed in my previous post is, to have time to do other things like having occasional jobs or participating in organizational activities whilst studying (just like in real live 🥳). I wasn't even aware for a long time that there existed an issue with DU. Interesting to know though as you said, that one doesn't have to max out on skills beforehand, I just did it to be on the safe side. "Take notes" was something I immediately applied since the beginning as there is a similar option when going to work which is "Work hard" where you can actually see your career bar filling up at a much higher rate than by applying the "Normal" attitude.

If it works for you you're clearly doing it right! :D
Yeah, mine don't participate in any organizations, don't have jobs, etc. One (Super, her mom is a caster) had access to Potion of Plentiful Needs, which was a huge help, and the vampire didn't need to sleep so she went out dancing with friends a lot because I found her Fun was the hardest thing to keep up. Higher Research and Debate means faster homework completion and a generally easier time; I'd consider 3 an absolute minimum.
I hear that participating in organizations actually boosts your grades, but my Sims all live at home and... *shrug* Living at home helps with avoiding the awful "unbalanced meals" moodlets that I hear the dorm encourages. Keep their needs high and avoid negative moodlets!
Living at home: Basically, one lived with her mom, one lived with her older sister, and the broke vampire was broke because I started playing her as an orphan teen, and she'd never had a job. She got enough starting cash that I could give her a terrible house with a coffin, a bookcase, the cheapest couch, the cheapest TV, the cheapest computer, a desk for homework, and the cheapest bathtub. (Vamps don't need toilets or kitchens, but require a roof.) Oh, and an aquarium, since those are a source of cheap plasma packs if you don't have a frog breeding program, or run out. 😉 After that it was all collectables and gardening (found flowers).
That said, yeah, my experience suggests that you get dinged a full letter grade for every time you go to class and don't take notes. Yikes. Yikes yikes yikes.
Oh! and I second Japonic2012's "enroll on Friday." I have them spend that weekend doing all homework and working on any presentations or papers before class even starts.
[another edit, sorry... I DO have mods, but nothing crazy. MCCC and bugfixes, most on the "hero approved" post.]

Weird, I've never had any problems with classes. I've actually NEVER even used the "Take notes" thing. Never even knew it existed.
I always thought classes were FAR too easy. As long as I do the homework and complete the term papers and presentations, I've never gotten less than an A. I usually have to study before I get an A+ though. But I've never even seen a "B" or less.
Well, I accidentally clicked on "Plagiarize" term paper once (Because the d*mn menus keep randomly changing order) I was put on probation and STILL got an A+ in the course...
Go figure.
