Re: [FIXED] Dying does not produce sadness

While playing the other day, my sims' elderly dad died during his kid's birthday party (he had stellar timing.) Oddly enough, only the wife was affected by this and got a moodlet for it. His kids didn't even notice a thing until I told them to mourn his urn, after which they got the "A friend has passed" moodlet, which seems inappropriate given it was their direct relative.

It just seems odd that if a family member died, the whole immediate family wouldn't be affected. I'm not sure if this had to do with his kid aging up at the exact same time that he died. Either way, watching his kids nonchalantly step over his body while eating birthday cake was pretty messed up.

On a related note, after his death the wife now seems to be stuck in a conversation with him forever and I can't get his little relationship box to disappear from the top of the screen. All I know is death has apparently made him feel "very uncomfortable".

If it helps, I am playing the game on Windows 7 64-bit with no mods or downloaded content.

  • Can confirm the Sims present in the household when the sim dies reacts as intended.

However, my sim's son and grandchildren who lived on another lot were blissfully unaware of and remained joyous when visited by his mourning sister who -was- present at the time of death. While this may be intended, it certainly lacks realism/depth.

  • i still don't think this is satisfactory then. my beautiful elder sim died and it was witnessed by her fiance and son-in-law and they both grieved, but her daughter and grand daughter, who turned up at the same time as grim reaper were just smiling and sighing away as her body was reaped. since it is part of the game play that the newly expectant mother will autonomously share the big news with the father, i don't see why code can't be added in so that the bad news is autonomously shared by to the whole household and at least immediate family, so that all can actually grieve for days regardless of whether they were there at the moment of death.

honestly i almost thew the game away when those two just stood there and chuckled away to themselves. their reactions, compared to the other two, were ridiculous and they just spent the next two days as if nothing had happened while i had the men of the household trying to deal with their grief.

Yeah, for me it's been an on and off. When the son died of embarrassment everyone was sad and cried all day long.

When my elder Sims died there was hardly any reaction although the Sims were standing next to the dying Sim.
