I am having the same issue. I'd assumed that by using the Icebox Refrigerator on my Off-the-Grid lot, that I would have to keep ice stored so that it wouldn't use power, but it still drains my power reserves even with full ice. Why can't I turn off the power usage, so that it's totally reliant on my sim refilling the ice? Someone on the forums suggested upgrading the fridge to use fuel cells but I feel like that defeats the purpose. If my sim keeps the ice level topped off, it should keep the fridge items cool without energy, something our ancestors did long before the advent of electricity. I also wish my reportedly off-the-grid stove could be refilled with wood and not use power, and was disappointed that it doesn't. It drains my power supply too.
