I agree, I find it very irritating, because I like to build home offices for my Sims wherein the chair is an essential component of the overall décor...and instead I have to settle for one of the uglier and less comfortable desk chairs. Overall, I think the game is greatly lacking in selection for desk chairs. But I too wish they would fix this (seemingly minor and thus fixable) issue!
