Firing the maid should work as a temporary workaround for this issue. The bug happens when a maid situation is going on your home lot and some of your household Sims are off-lot (like for work/school). I guess you could also make all your Sims skip work/school, that should work too. 🙂

Note that if you cancel the maid service via phone while the maid is on the lot they'll potentially finish their shift, and the bug will keep occurring as long as they're still on the lot, as long as they're acting in the maid role. If you fire them via the pie menu (if they're actively on your lot) it should cancel the maid situation immediately. 

As I mentioned before I don’t have a maid, but I did have a nanny when this happened. I tried firing him and that worked. So it isn’t just a maid issue, but perhaps a working npc issue? 

@preciouskittenn Hmm I can't reproduce with a nanny, only with the maid. Did you maybe have both a nanny and a maid? Or maybe some mod that could be affecting this? We've tried testing this with all the other services like butler and gardener as well, and yeah we've only been able to get it with maids. There was a bug fix in the December Patch that touched a "maid_Situation" tuning file, which is why I was assuming it's very specific to the maid situation.

If you can consistently get it without a maid involved, and it's not mod-related, could you possibly share a save file where you're having the issue?

I too am having this problem since the last update, but in my case it seems to be triggered by either my sim gardening, the gardener or my sims going to work or school.  At first I thought it was the gardening because it seemed to happen once my sim started to sell her harvestables, but it could be school or work. It seems to stop once everyone is home from work/school.

Tried firing the maid, didnt help ☹️ It's been like this since the last update, and wont stop no matter what. I've seen some people getting it after playing for a few minutes, or an hour, but with me it starts immidiatly... I have mods, but none activated other than furniture.

removed the mods, nothing changed. But when I went to another lot it stopped. But I can't just live in the park all the time :')

Yes I fired the maid, but it seems to have been fixed now? I went back home and the glitch is no longer there, will update if it comes back 🙂 

Firing the maid seemed to help so far, thank you for the tip. I wouldn't have thought that was the issue before. 

The same: firing the maid and switching between families for a moment helped for me so far. I played about 15 minutes.

I don't think The maid is the problem for me I tested the problem on two separate households and with my vampire household while they do have a maid she shows up in the morning while my vampires generally work at night, as soon as one of them went to work time sped up and I could stop it.

Here's how it happened for me. I've never had this problem until after the last patch and only after hiring a maid. The maid wasn't even on the lot yet and the game speed up. She literally just hung up the phone from hiring the services. She canceled the service, but the game is still speeding up. Methinks I'm just gonna save without quitting and forget this happened lol.

The glitch for me seems to be occurring when there is a maid on the lot as well as when someone is at work/school. I haven't been able to try firing the maid yet, because I'm trying to keep my toddlers from melting down.

Update: Cancelled the maid service.  My child just went to school for first time since I did this, the game didn't go into ultra speed. This fix seems to be working for now.

Why should I have to fire my maid just to get the game working? This isn't even a viable temporary solution

For me it was getting rid of the Maid and the Nanny that seems to have fixed it. I suggest that anyone else having this issue just add if you can a sim to your lot to take over those duties till EA fixes this issue 

I'm having the same problem without any kids/teens going to school or any maids arriving. In fact, it happens during intimacy which is hiliarious but also a problem.

To me it seems to be the university update where you have uncontrolled roommates. the game selects one household member and when they leave it acts as if no one else is there. i have 2 games that it does this.

I didn't have a maid or nanny or butler and no one was at work or school. For me it happened shortly after having been in build mode. I paused game play, went into build mode, and then resumed game play when i was finished. Everything was fine for about a minute and then it started randomly speeding up. If it doesn't stop my kids will die of starvation. It started last night. I shut down the game and restarted my computer. I even left it and tried again today. I do have MCCC and some CC. It may have actually started after I edited my sims pregnancy with MCCC.

This did not work for me and the issue is still happening all of the time, its making the game unplayable ☹️
