Glad to hear it worked out for you.

Hopefully Maxis can resolve this soon; while the workaround appears to work thus far (for us two, anyway), it's rather a hassle to have to stay put on the home lot while expecting things in the mail. Not to mention having to refrain from saving/loading until after the items are delivered.

That and me not knowing off the top of my head which interactions result in items being mailed. AFAIK it's elements, postcards, the orchid (though that can be gotten through grafting), and the April event bunny (which is also unlocked for purchase once the egg collection is complete, regardless of the free one being delivered properly).

So this might be a patch only issue.

Would explain why it worked for me for I always had GTW installed while I was testing.

crinrict, I would consider it a GTW issue as well since in my testing loading a game that was saved after mailing the crystals/metals but before receiving the elements will result in the elements never being received. To break that sentence down into steps:

Elements Never Received:

1. Mail crystals/metals.

2. Save game after mailing, but before receiving elements.

3. Load save game from step 2.

4. Wait for days and weeks and never get elements.

Workaround:

1. Mail crystals/metals.

2. Do not save, do not load. Just keep playing.

3. Wait one or more days on home lot only for mail to be delivered.

4. Get elements.

If you could test both of these scenarios and see if you get the same results, that'd be great.

Good news!  I was either mistaken before, or things changed when I installed Get to Work.  On my first mailing to the Geo Council, I didn't leave my lot or game, and I was able to get elements back.  It did take two days, so I was surprised when it happened.  I'm currently trying it again to see if it will work two times in a row without me changing anything else.

Edit:  It worked 🙂  I got the mail twice in a row, without changing anything.  Hopefully it also works for people without the Get to Work expansion, so at least they have a way of getting the mail.  It would still be great if we could leave the game or lot, though.

I'm having the same difficulty with Geo Council mail, not receiving bills, and a few other things. Additional problems:

A Sim with level 10 gardening skill is unable to sculpt perfect bonsai bush that was planted from a perfect seed. The option is disabled, giving a message saying that the plant must be excellent or higher grade to perform the action. It's a perfect bush!

With writing books, I find that one of my Sims is unable to finish writing a book unless they do it in one sitting. If they stop to eat, use the bathroom, etc., anything, then return to writing, any progress they have made on the book is lost and they have to start over. 

I have tried all of the fixes recommended here with no luck. I am running with the Outdoor expansion and no mods. Please advise.

Also, on a side note, I find the Easter eggs to be a bit of an annoyance. I did complete the collection (and received the giant rabbit), but now the things keep turning up whenever I harvest the garden. It has become rather tedious having to sell the things almost every Sim day.

The fix its do not seem to be working for some people, if you are not adverse to using cheats then I'd recommend the buy debug cheat to spawn elements. There is also a cheat to force bills if necessary. I've tried everything else but as I'd like not be held hostage on certain gameplay options that's what I'm doing. Bear in mind cheats are to be used with caution and backed up files but it's allowing progress whilst waiting for an official patch or fix it. ( I am not responsible for any adverse affects when using cheats in your sims 4 game)
