I have the same issue. I have found the solution for me and it is to use cheats (testingcheats true) by manually picking gigs from the cheat options (click the sims while you press shift, choose career gigs picker (debug)). It will let you do the auditions the next day after you pick the gig (it would not appear in the career tab). After you passed the audition it appears in the career tab then you can go to your gig.
