I've had this issue for a while now on PS4. I kept finding spoiled plates of egg scramble everywhere and my sims were nauseous from eating it. Turns out one of my sims autonomously cooked it without me knowing and served it to her family while it was spoiled. Everything they grill goes into their inventory now
Same thing is happening to me and I want to do the homeless challenge but everyone is putting the food into the inventory. I hope someone comes out with a mod fix if there isnt going to be a patch for this.
I have this issue, too. And it doesn't only happen with played sims. I noticed that the butler had several spoiled hot dogs in her inventory, sometimes she grabs one and throws it away.
When my sims are hungry and there happen to be a grill on the lot (or close by out in the neighbourhood) they ALWAYS choose the grill. And when they grill they put the food in their inventory. The next time they get hungry they take one plate from the inventory, seem to realise that it’s spoiled, put it on a nearby surface, take another plate from the inventory and continues the actions in that order until the big inventory-plate is empty. If I don’t pay attention (maybe focusing at another sim for the moment) I come back to a spoiled-hotdogs-chaos.
