Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? Latest version
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Growing Together, High School Years, Snowy Escape, Cats and Dogs, City Living, Cottage Living, Desert Luxe Kit, Dine Out, Get To Work, Get Together, Holiday Celebration Pack, Movie Hangout Stuff, Outdoor Retreat, Paranormal Stuff, Parenthood, Seasons, StrangerVille, Vampires, Grunge Revival Kit, Werewolves
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Turn on cas.fulleditmode and attempt to edit/replace the traits of a sim who has earned bonus traits (such as Loyal or Cheerful) as a feature in Growing Together.
What happens when the bug occurs? The player will be unable to edit the traits, aspiration, preferences, or gender/sexuality of a sim in CAS. Upon clicking on another sim in the household, all of the above information (including name and pronouns, which can still be edited) will be transferred from the previous sim to the one that the player has clicked on. However, even if the information copied to another sim will not have any actual affect on them (the traits won't mean anything, and the physical frame of the sim will remain the same). This includes cats and dogs; for example, a cat will end up with a trait like socially awkward. This will sometimes continue even when the game is closed and opened again, but sometimes the issue solves itself. Additionally, the icon for walk styles becomes a blue square instead of the selected walk style.
What do you expect to see? For this not to happen in the first place, and for the player to be able to edit the original 3 traits of a sim, even if they have bonus traits.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No
Thankfully, I was able to reverse the changes that were made when this happened (the names were still messed up, but I was able to change them back to the original, and the traits/gender/sexuality options were reverted). I'm not sure if it's worth reporting since it was found as a result of using cheats, and whether or not it will have irreversible changes in gameplay seem to be random. I also apologize for not having any screenshots, but I hope this gets checked out.
So I know this bug is ongoing and still being investigated, but from what I have been reading, here and elsewhere, there seems to be two different schools of thought on the cas.fulleditmode cheat with this bug. Some people say it is fine to use the fulleditmode cheat, provided you are not editing a Sim's traits, and as long as you are not bringing a Sim into CAS that has additional traits through the trait discovery system from GroT. But others say you shouldn't use the fulleditmode cheat at all, regardless of editing traits / extra traits. I put the building of my save file on pause because I would, ideally, like to roll back the timeline a little, meaning that I could age-down some characters. So I would really only need the fulleditmode for ages, like, for example, aging down Cassandra and Alexander Goth, and making Bella & Mortimer the same age. So, does anyone know if this is safe to do, to edit ages, or is it best to not use it at all, or wait for a bug fix (that will likely never come).
Any insight or guidance about using the cheat right now would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'd say, just try. Save your game under a new name and then test. If it goes wrong, just revert to the other save.- 3 years ago
Hi @crinrict Thank you for replying. I'll give it a test today on it's own save.
