Re: [FIXED] [MFPSP] Rodent Cage Breaks Game

Also after deleting the cage ? Do you have any babies on your lot ?

If so, best thing to do is probably age them up,

  • I've only recently got the pet stuff pack, and had this problem when deleting the cage. I didn't have any babies or other pets, just a single young adult sim.

the only way I found around it was to get rid of the rodent first by releasing it, after that it let me delete the cage without a problem.

  • This is what happened to me too! I thought it was a mod issue, but I guess not. What happened in my game was my pet rat died because he never needed to be fed, then I sold the cage. But when I went back to live mode, my game was frozen and I had to force quit because I couldn't even exit my game. I had to roll back my save to before he died and save him, otherwise my save was broken. I had two young adult sims, and no babies. One of my sims is pregnant though.

  • Update: I removed my mods folder, repaired my game, and created a new save. I made a single sim who owns 4 rodent cages. I played for a couple days, and then I sold one of the cages. My game completely broke. It was frozen and I couldn't click anything, but sound was still playing. I couldn't quit the game. I couldn't even go to task manager to quit the game. I had to restart my computer to get out of it.

So you don't need to have babies or a pregnant sim for this to happen.

I guess this is an issue in others games. Hmm weird how the rodent cage can do such harm to your game. Please fix soon

Also having this same problem after deleting the cage, and no babies on the lot.

  • Having this issue,

No babies/toddlers in the house, just two adult sims and one child sim.

Tried deleting the rodent cage and game breaks, will not switch to Live mode and game needs to force quit.

Just having the cage causing the issue, sims freeze when interacting/ just walking past it.

    Any advice?

  • When I have a hamster my sims get stuck and I have to reset them. I try to interact or feed them or talk to them. If my sim doesn't get completely stuck then there is a great deal of lag. Please help!!

    Thanks,

    Connie

I also don't have any babies (unlike the original post). My Sims had the rat for about a couple Sim days. I just got the pack about a week ago (in real-world time). I fed the rat once; the game never let me feed it again, so I assumed it must not need to be fed often. Suddenly, I got a notification that the rat had died of starvation, but when I went to see what to do about it, the rat was "alive" -- had stats, said it was starving, moving, running on its wheel like a zombie with green odor animations coming out of the cage. I didn't have the option for my Sim to clean the habitat or release it, so I tried to have my Sim "purchase rodent" (to replace it). Nothing happened. So I tried deleting the cage (from build mode). It disappeared (I think?) but when I tried to buy a new rodent cage to replace the original cage, placing it in the same spot, the game completely broke. The cage kept switching between being visible and not being visible. I was in & out of build mode trying to delete it or fix it, so I can't remember now when it was visible (which mode) and when it wasn't, but in either case, I couldn't successfully interact with it via my Sim in live mode or successfully delete it from build mode. If I deleted it, it would come back. Then I'd go to replace it, and it would be gone, so I'd try placing another one -- couldn't interact with it, either. Then, I couldn't interact with anything -- couldn't click on it to delete it in build mode, couldn't direct my Sims to interact with the cage or to do anything else in their house. When I tried to exit, it wouldn't even save or exit, just froze on a loading screen for several minutes. I have two young adults on the lot, neither of whom is pregnant.

  • First time I encountered the bug I deleted the cage without releasing the rodent first. Game wouldn't allow me to click/interact with anything, crashed upon exit. I had 2 adult sims in a penthouse apartment. Released the rodent, deleted cage, worked fine.

Now I have a family: 2 adults, child, 2 toddlers in a house. Released rodent first (because he was just being weird and buggy anyways) then deleted the cage and now my game is broken.

side question; Does anyone else's rodent wheel spin even with no rodent? (edit: Yes after scouring these comments more it seems like quite a few rodent cages are just buggy and the rodents are obsessed with the wheel and this repetitive motion of the wheel tends to hypnotize sims into a trance like state and give them the ability to teleport rooms. thought it was just me)

i do have a few mods, but still.

1/10 would not recommend this pack unless you're super into blinds.
