Re: [FIXED] Open staircase cause routing failures

I also have this issue. I have tried the workaround reported by @JuliaChang93, and while it makes the stair usable, it is not a perfect workaround in some situations. It seems to work around the issue by making the opening in the floor count like the outside/not a room. This has side effects such as the one in the attached picture - the pillar can no longer be placed on the building's outer corner, because the corner no longer counts as the corner of a room.

    Exactly as @SheriGR  wrote

    In many cases, it is enough to remove the railings at the stairs and next to them. And then putting them back on.

    I suppose the bug is due to the addition of new platforms in the update.

    Hope EA will fix this bug as soon as possible. 🙂

    @danuta720 No, putting railings back on replaces floor, and with stair cutout, sims have no problem, but removing floor from stairwell, they cannot do it. Unless, you do the workaround and sledgehammer the floor. but that takes out ceilings and makes columns act weird, and it is a major renovation project to fix all that. Also, just to confirm, this happens even with tallest wall height.

    @stjmk@Danuta720

    If you use the sledgehammer to delete the floor the two times to make and re-make the open stairway and you find the ceiling has been deleted over the area, you can re-build it by creating a room the size of the opening in the floor above, then delete the walls and ceiling of that room. (Thus leaving the floor, which also becomes the ceiling of the area below, as done in this video:  https://youtu.be/YctI60okBeE )

    @SheriGR Yep, been there, done that. But, I still needed to play hokey-pokey with walls and ceilings downstairs and up in some builds to get the game to recognize inside versus out. And sometimes it still had problems.

    @stjmk😂 Yup, par for the course. The 'Hokey-Pokey' is required on a regular basis when you want something not available 'out of the box'. Ummm ... like an opening around your stairway. 😉

    I'm so used to this fact it's ridiculous, but that's how I learn things, challenge myself, and create things I want. And sometimes it's how I break things. 😬
