Re: [FIXED] Reading books not counting for Knowledge Aspiration (non-ROM)

@manzana0807 This game file hasn't got any mods at all. Uninstalled all my mods and cc before the patch so they're completely mod free they weren't even twinkles in my eyes when mods were in my game 😂.

Also I've tried it ALOT recently on several different sims and it just isn't working. I do have ROM but have never had a spellcaster in this save. Also commented on there but was asked by someone from EA to make a new Bug report as it wasn't necessarily ROM connected so I did 🙂

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Just to add to my previous comments. I made these sims in a mod and cc free save and have played two of them from kids to young adult and two from adult to elders. They all experience this issue but only with the knowledge aspirations I previously mentioned. The aspirations that require kids to read with parents etc work fine.

@ftblacksheep Would you mind sending me your save ?

Just upload to google drive or one drive and PM me the link.

    Can take a look tomorrow.
  • Looking forward to your answer... I'm experiencing the exact same problem.

  • I started having this issue after installing RoM.  It happened with both occult and non-occult Sims, so the Knowledge is Magic perk can't have been the entire issue.  Plus, now that I have University installed, my 100% mortal Sim isn't getting credit for books under any perk or aspiration.  I'm also having issues with getting whim credits for reading, writing, and publishing books.  None of these issues existed for me prior to installing RoM.

To test, I started a new game with a randomly created non-occult Sim with the Renaissance aspiration.  I don't know what else to try other than to attempt to uninstall packs created from RoM and after.  I'd rather not have to do all that since I use the game to destress from an 80 hour work week and I just want to decompress with my Sims... not work for them.

I've only done a preliminary test in one save, but in that one save I had a new sim learn the research and debate skill and get to level 2, which was where the issue seemed to occur previously.  She then went on to read two more books (the first book she read was the research and debate skill book and it counted, as it had before) and both books counted towards the 'read three books' goal of the knowledge aspiration so I'm thinking this may also be fixed with the 12/12/19 Game Update (my game version is now PC: 1.59.73.1020 ).

I'll have to see if I have any sims that were having this issue before that I can see if it works for them, vs with new sims, it's possible I already cheated their aspiration progress so they could continue since they had read a lot of books.

    Best regards,
    Jennifer
