Re: [FIXED] Sims age up/go back in age/days added/reduced

@crinrict

-- Yes, reverting to older saves, even before the High School Years patch. My "long lived" sims are still aging up automatically when entering any played household. I suspect that "long lived" sims, having lived many many days beyond the "normal" and "short" lifespans are triggering some kind of error and pushing up their birthdays prematurely.

-- I haven't checked CAS, but the random days added after CAS was affecting me post High School Years patch.

-- I've never played with any mods.

Thank you for your response!

    @AABuilds I moved your post over to another thread.

    Sounds more like what you're seeing too

    Could you check if it's a one time thing for you as well ?

    @AABuilds Do they continue to age up when you the next time you go into CAS or is it just on the initial load of the game after the patch ?

    Like if you play on after that, do you still have issues with it happening again ?
  • @crinrict

    Really odd thing happened just now -- I loaded into a 2021 save of a long-life-span young adult household, and he did not age up automatically. I entered CAS, no change to age. Traveled, no change to age.

    Then I logged into my 7/27 save, and my family of long-life-span young adults did not age up immediately when I entered the household. They didn't age when entering CAS or traveling either.

    Then I logged into my 7/28 save of the same family, and only one of the long-life-span sims aged up immediately into an adult. After he aged up, he had the correct amount of days of an adult life span (around 80 something). Then traveled, then entered CAS -- no aging up occurred. So in this instance, it was a one time thing.

    I guess I will continue playing with my 7/27 save? This is really so confusing I have no idea what's going on. Was there another update today?

    Thanks,

    Alex

    @AABuilds

    It would be interesting to know if the ages are wrong in the 7/27 save, too (in case you remember what they should have been).

    In my saves I had the impression that the ages all got multiplied (seemed to be a multiplication with 3 in my short lifespan save, but I can only tell for sure for two Sims). So it's possible that the ages in your first save are wrong too but did not instantly trigger an age up in case the wrong age is still below the age up threshold. So in general the older the Sims have been originally (or the longer you played the save) the higher the probability that an aging glitch makes them age up.

    @AABuilds No, there were no further updates.

    @hobbyholly76 What's your game version ?

    @jmcdan02 I've merged your post as well although what you're experiencing seems a bit different. There's reports of aging twice every now and then so not sure what's going on with that. Do you have any further issues when saving (new name) and then reloading the game again ?

  • @crinrict

    Thank you!

    Not that I'm complaining, but it seems odd that the issue would semi resolve itself, at least on one of my saves, without any further patching. Does that sound crazy to you, or has this happened before?

    I guess I'm a little worried going back to play those saves if something funny is going on.

    Merged a few threads

    For everyone still having issue of the Sim aging each time you enter live mode, do check the following things

    • Check your game version. It needs to say 1.90.375.1020 for PC, 1.90.375.1220 for Mac and 1.62 for console. If that is not the case, update your game
    • Repair your game through Origin or Steam
    • Remove any mods you still have, including the folders in the saves folder that come from a mod (backup your stuff first)
    • Test again

    There will most probably be an initial problem as outlined a few times in this thread already because age spans have changed.

    Then note the days you have and go to CAS, exit.

    Check your days again. If they are NOT the same, send me your save. Instructions in my signature.

  • I have not tried these suggestions. I will do so when I play tonight. I do have the latest PC version 1.90.375.1020. I will let you know my results.

    @crinrict I have the current version. 1.90.375.1020

    I checked my saves folder...reverting back to a previous save prior to july 26th is not an option so that just is not a solution.

    I have 2 separate games files and the 2nd which i did not load once i had these issues in the other is seemingly working normally , but i need to test more. I decided to load that one and those sims age bars are not full nor aging up instantly when i turn aging on and enter live mode, but the other game file does, which is the one i'd been using since the updates. Never loaded the 2nd game file after the July 26th update. The primary game file aging problem occurs even when turning on normal, not just long. So...I'm at a loss here, but seems like i won't be able to have aging on in that game file.

    @hobbyholly76 I do think that even pre-patch games are affected. Normal seems a bit odd as the length as extended but whatever they did changed something fundamental in how they handle aging.

    If you try on a backup of that save game, does it happen after the initial hit again when you go back to CAS ?

    I am confused by how this issue is playing out. I do not have problems with my Sims aging every time I enter Live Mode. Instead, when I load a lot, all household members will age up--including pets. If I exit without saving, this will happen every time I try to play that household. If I go into CAS, age them back down to the proper age level and exit CAS, they will stay that age. If I save the game after doing that, the changes stick and they don't age up when I load the household the next time.

    This was happening between installing the High School Years patch and the most recent patch, and it is still happening. I tried setting my lifespan to Normal, as EA advised, but it didn't make a difference. The only thing that prevents the issue is to turn aging off completely.

    I have the latest game version for PC and have already tried repairing my game through origin. Any thoughts on what to try next? Or is EA realizing that this "fix" didn't repair all the aging up issues?

  • This is indeed broken, and it is strange there is no 'fix' or if they have acknowledged that there is a real problem with this. I started a new save to test (this is post update) in normal mode, and I created a standard YA sim and moved her into a regular home, she had already lost 3 days in her lifespan on the first day of creation. I wanted to see how the other sims were age-wise, so I went around playing different households and every YA sim had the exact amount of days being 24 days (no less or more). My sim had 21 days left and she was freshly created. I also tested the short and long and every single one still had 24 days the numbers didn't go up or down and remained the same.

    I did of course test out children, teens, adults, and elder sims to see where their numbers were. Children and teens have exactly 13 days and adults have 24 and elders have 60 days, and this is all on normal mode. Again, changing the length does nothing to these numbers and they remain the same regardless. I also checked saves I have since may (glad I kept some old ones) and those are also affected by this glitch, I did also back up saves before the patch and put those in and they are all affected as well.

    I forgot to remove that mod during testing, and I feel silly now lol. Yes I did have it in there, and I did remove it and the days seem to be just fine.

  • I did some more testing. Before opening my game, I repaired it just in case that was the issue. Upon entering the game, it clearly was not the issue as I could still replicate the problem. I exited without saving, then entered the game again. This time I paused it, then went to Game Options, then Save As. I then gave my game a new name and exited without saving.

    This time when I clicked on Load Game, I had both the old and new save. I went into the new save and did not have this issue. So glad I did not go into any other saves. I will load them and then Save As all my saved games, then I will delete the old ones. At least there is a way to preserve the game.

    Thank you for all the suggestions.
