TThere seems tto be a difference between premade and self created sims... now I have 8 game packs activated, bug happens with self made Sim, but not with prremade ones.

  • Product: The Sims 4
    Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Occasionally (10% - 49%)
What is your current game version number? 1.96.365.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansion packs. Parenthood and Dine out.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? By playing
What happens when the bug occurs? The sim just stops doing things that are in queue and just stands there. When this happens I have to reset sim everytime.
What do you expect to see? The sims to not just stand there like idiots when I have told them what to do.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Out of no where the sim I'm currently playing just "freezes" and can't do anything until I use ResetSim on them. I can have a full queue of stuff ready to go and they won't budge.

This happend before I emplemented mods and still happens with or without.

This has been going on for a while. I have even upgraded my PC and still the same thing on this one. I have tried to repair.  I have tried new saves, old saves.

  • I have all the game packs installed. When the new patch came out the game started to glitch. I uninstalled mods and add some back. I click for my sims to watch tv and they are standing watching but not going to the tv. How can I fix it, please?

@TheSimsDirectAny update? This issue has to be considered at least as serious as the face bug since it literally prevents people from playing. I realize that Mac is probably not your largest platform in terms of users, but still, is this bug getting fixed anytime soon?

  • @PandoraTO i didn-t realise this post was only for mac users but in my game the same thing is happening, just instead of no interaction they dance no matter what i make them do, im on pc

@georgiahtaloca This thread is for everyone experiencing the bug, no matter the platform. I was just referencing the fact that most people in the thread who have identified their OS seem to be playing on Macs. So, to me it looks like more of a Mac problem, but it's still entirely possible that people on PC are experiencing it too, like you.

Kind of surprising this bug wasn't addressed as part of today's patch.

  • Can confirm that the new patch did not fix this issue. I was hoping in some backward way it would.

I am guessing EA is trying to focus on issues that the majority of players are facing, not just us. In general, the last big patch seemed to have come with a handful of issues they are trying to iron out.

I'm just hoping we aren't forgotten! I miss playing.

    Big surprise update!

After checking the patch and reporting here, I got irritated and did more digging and...

    My game is working! 🙂

(Hopefully, it stays that way after a few hours of play. I will need to test this more.)

I moved my DLC files when reinstalling the game, but I did not try to delete the DLC from my PC since there were so many, so I simply moved them back while testing.

I noticed in the sims folder that I had a weird file name with a $ sign. Turns out that my Strangeville file had turned into a strange (ha) file name; $RSXJIXI. I deleted it and reinstalled it, and my game so far has been working or at least making better progress. My sim is able to wash her hands, fish, and sleep; what she couldn't do before without just standing there frozen.

    Check your program files!

I'm guessing, at least in my situation that one of my DLCs got corrupted, but the game still kinda recognized it, so it wasn't saying it was missing or giving me an error. - This would also make sense on why recreating the issue might be difficult.

I'll keep you guys updated if the issue returns.

P.S. I do recall having a mild hiccup when first updating to the patch that caused all this. I had to reinstall the patch, and maybe something glitched during the process? Repairing/reinstalling the base game alone didn't fix this issue. For those who took out laundry day, possible your file name turned into gibberish too?

@GlowingClouds4 224 "me toos" seems like a significant enough bug to me, but who knows how EA prioritizes these things? Maybe if this bug also made our sims slightly squint-eyed, they'd bump it up list, lol.

Earlier today, I reactivated the Laundry Day pack, and my game seems to work now, so far (after about an hour of gameplay), my Sims were not stuck in any idle animations.

  • So my game started to work but now im experiencing loading errors constantly, with a fresh folder and no mods. ☹️ so the game is still unplayable
loading errors haven't happened on a fresh save with no mods (as far as i can tell) but they do happen on already created saves without mods, so essentially i can only play on brand new saves and even that i don't know for sure. I will try a fresh reinstall again, repairing, new folder and see if the problem still happens. it seems the new patch isn't recognising old saves

  • @Ossborn

I don't have laundry day but, I have this issue in my game.

I hope they are going to fix it ASAP!!!!

    hi,

my sims 4 keeps lagging. idk if maybe my kids were playing with my computer and did something or if the update made it like that. but how do I fix it?

example: i'll click on something and it takes my sim 30 seconds to even do, sometimes she'll miss work or class because the time is all messed up, it's just weird and idk how to fix it. i'm also a mac user. I haven't had any issues up until now.

I'm on PS4 and I have this issue (of sims just freezing in place for hours, or dropping what I queued them to do) so often in new saves that I'm just using an old starter save instead where the issue is still present but much less frequent. Whatever is causing it, at least for me, happened at some point in the last few patches.

  • My Sim just froze again while interacting with the dog. All actions dropped and he was stuck. I went in and out of build mode and it did nothing. He wouldn't do anything at all. The dogs were running around and his wife got up and went for a shower but he was rooted to the spot. A dog jumped up to be petted and he gave the dog a pat then froze again. Then he autonomously walked to the living room and sat down. I couldn't stop him or add a command as nothing would add to the queue during this glitch. After a few minutes of sitting down, he accepted commands again.

The day before, on his in-laws household his father in law did the same thing (but with no pets). He just froze, stopped accepting commands and then after a few minutes he walked himself across the house and sat down at the computer.

I don't think my game liked the latest patch very much unfortunately. Live mode is quite broken ☹️.

@TheSimsDirect Do you know what is causing it then? Can you share the cause (even if you are still working on an official fix) so that we can make sure we avoid causing the requirements that lead to this problem? Thank you!!
