Re: [FIXED] Sims not visible to player teleport /abort interactions

I think it's worth stressing that this is game-breaking not because of the visual glitch but because of the extremely long delay before the queued action is executed.  I have had Sims pee themselves going from barely in the orange to full motive desperation on bladder waiting to execute the task of using the downstairs toilet.  I am now extra careful to always watch my Sims when they have to perform actions to top off a critical need (like hunger, especially, having Sims starve to death from this would be incredibly frustrating).

Marking as resolved for visibility only - We're currently working on a fix for this situation

    Hey everyone,

Thank you for all the reports about this issue! Having to babysit your Sims to make sure their tasks are performed can be pretty disruptive when you're trying to multi-task, so I can appreciate this has a notable impact when you're just trying to play.

We do have all the information we need and are currently working on a fix to prevent this from happening in the future, so thanks again for the incredibly detailed information you've all provided and I do appreciate the patience as well!

  • Product: The Sims 4
    Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Occasionally (10% - 49%)
What is your current game version number? 1.77
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All except: Uni, Realm of Magic, Starwars, Dust Bunnies, and Throwback Fitness clothing.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try the Pub. Upstairs then tell sim to go outside to talk to another sim.
What happens when the bug occurs? My sim took long time to leave the upstairs bathroom at the Pub. Told sim to go talk to another sim outside. I was waiting by sim to be talked to. Noticed Pub door and fence gate open on its own. I clicked on my sims photo to center, and poof... she was standing next to other sim and started talking to them. This has happend twice, invisible til I photo click center sim. Once I do that, sim reappears.
What do you expect to see? My Sim....
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Installed Cottage Living

Sorry no photos, or video. I'll try to get them if this happens again.

I saw that they released their To-Do List of bugfixes today, which shows the most important bug fixes to be worked on. The camera / abort interaction problem from this thread is not on the list.

Hopefully that means that they are close to fixing it. Playing the game like this feels terrible.

You've been playing? This blows my mind. I tried and I can't handle it. Instead of having fun, I get really upset. But I am trusting EA_Mako's response (up there) that this is being worked on; it might even be fixed, but they want to release an update with more than just one fix, and some of the other reports here sound like real problems.

However ... and I've wanted to say this for a while now ... half the stuff listed here is stuff I simply tolerate, and that I would never have thought to report.  I tolerate tons of stuff, and work what look like "bugs" right into my storylines, but the one I reported here was just too intolerable.  It constantly felt awful, like you said.

And simply throwing this out for the first time, there's this big, big thing I have never understood, and I keep coming back to it in my head.  Right now, hundreds of thousands -- millions? -- of people in the world play Sims.  Doesn't every one of those people have this bug?  And this is another big deal in my head, if they don't, *what about their system and their game* makes them not have this bug, and can't that be replicated on our systems?  Is everything I'm asking here showing zero understanding of PCs, gaming boxes, etc.?  I've been assuming, and I very much realize it could be really naive, that everyone has this bug so everyone is either playing in spite of it or can't/won't play.  But to me, that would mean I'd be seeing it talked about all over the place, and I don't see that.  This is a huge, insurmountable mystery in my head.  I don't get it.

But it felt really good to say all that out loud, LOL.

@goofylittlerhino  I have 3 different systems I play on regularly with very different hardware, and they all have this bug - I can't imagine the QA team is having any difficulty replicating it.  I can only keep playing when using smaller families (no more than 3 Sims) and only with 1 story homes.  It's frustrating to have to leave my larger families or those in bigger homes unplayed until this is fixed, as I agree this issue is just too frustrating to simply work around or fix with mods like we often can with so many other bugs.

A poster named "Igleblod" JUST reported on the identical issue in another thread on the board; see page 1 of thread: "Sims will not go up or down stairs unless spectated."

Thanks so much for your response.  I feel so disoriented.  I literally played at least a little every day, until this.  It's a fun game!

One example concerning bugs: A report on the forum mentions sims walking like they "need to pee" in a blizzard.  I just took it as, that's their upset/scared walk.  So I would just say, "Come on, little guy!  You can do it!" and make sure they got inside.  "You made it!!!"  But I never thought of it as a bad thing; I compartmentalized it in my head and had no issue with it.  Just a random example.

No i did not play since the patch from July 20. I tried for like 2 days and decided it's a waste of time. Because it affects not only your own Sim, but NPC Sims as well. For example, if i go to a Club, there will be people stuck at the Bar (unless i watch them with the camera all the time), people get stuck standing near the toilet which leads to other Sims peeing themselves or leaving the Lot.

Most of the buildings i use & visit are big and have multiple floors = pretty much unplayable unless you constantly fly around with your camera like a lunatic.

And yeah, i already said "Why are there not more people reporting this problem?" I guess it depends how you play. Some people play in small houses with no stairs = they probably don't notice. Some people only build houses and don't play with Sims = no problem. And some people just ignore it and think it's their PC / Console problem.

People sometimes report bugs that are small and no big deal. But some people have it even worse. The new DLC (Cottage Living) can absolutely destroy your save games irreversible, if you try to play on the new Map. Some bug that creates thousands of empty Sim families, making your PC lag and filling up your save games. If you run into one of these problems, there is a good chance that your Save Game can't be fixed and you have to start over from zero.

So anyone who reads this, always make backup saves from your Save Files! After the "Bust the Dust" DLC, Cottage Living is the 2. DLC recently that has major problems and makes the game literally unplayable for some people.

As of right now my girlfriend is playing Sims 4 with the latest patch and Cottage Expansion, her Sims career is the Decorator job. And as she is showing the other Sims what she has changed or before she's even started decorating if she goes up any flight of stairs they all literally jump up to that floor like teleport.

This the got her character stuck outside on top of the house doorway and I had to do the console command to enable cheats to use the teleporter Cheat to get him down.

As of late Sims are not responding to commands again I've reset Sims I've cleared cache I have every driver up to date, windows 10 is up to date. Ever since the latest expansion it's got worse,

  • @EA_Mako Does this mean they are also working on fixing the teleporting issue? I send a sim somewhere within the house and they don't actually walk, they teleport. In my case, everything happens quickly.
