If it's caused by the new Environment Score feature introduced by the Eco Lifestyle Pre-Patch, does turning if off in Options fix it? (I'm currently on patch hiatus, so I don't know where that is, exactly.)
- gwenleah5 years agoNew Adventurer@CherryBerryCloud I haven't put MCC back in yet - although I notice deadpooler has an update. I'll try loading it up.
How do you disable emotion idles in it Can't say I've seen that option (but there's a TON of stuff with it that I haven't tried yet). BUILD MODE ITEMS GRANT GAMEPLAY EFFECTS
How you build your lot can now affect your gameplay. Certain objects such as wall patterns, floor patterns, fences, and columns bring different gameplay modifiers. Some of these modifiers affect how your Bills and utilities are calculated by decreasing or increasing your Power or Water utility production or usage, as well increasing or decreasing the price of bills. Environment Score can now be impacted by certain objects and materials. Drywall walls without wall patterns applied now decrease environment score like they did in The Sims 3! The choice of floor and wall materials used can also affect the ability to spread fire or puddles at an increased or lessened rate. And if you’d rather build your lot without having to think about these things, don’t worry. There’s an Option in the Gameplay menu to turn all of this off.
From the patch notes.
- @StarryMight I tried turning it off and my sim used the bored idle about 10 minutes later. So no, turning it off doesn't stop it.
- gwenleah5 years agoNew Adventurer@StarryMight I think that may have solved the issue. Never did I think that would be the problem! Thank you!
@Abradley745 : Hmm...
@gwenleah : Glad to hear that! Hopefully it'll stick!
- @gwenleah Hi 🙂 What I did was open mc_tuner.cfg in a Notepad program (I use Notepad ++) and added the following line below:
25717,Emotion_Idle
Then save and close. Log in to the game and sims should stop doing all those annoying idles, including those when they're happy/confident/etc. - sushicrow5 years agoNew Hotshot
@StarryMight It's not the new environment changes on my end, either. I have this bug too and I have the environment boost/ changes off in options. It happened immediately upon loading the game in a new save and sim after the patch, which I also hotfixed.
My Active sim is in an energized mood but bored grumpy. Kinda weird for a pepped up sim, maybe she needs more coffee. No, wait that's me... 🙂
@sushicrow: LOL, okay, maybe something is glitched about it, then.
- gwenleah5 years agoNew Adventurer@StarryMight After I played more, the problem came back but it's less than it was. A lot less. I swear, previously, all of my beloved Sims were going to get murdered for being whiny little *ahem* snits. They've had a slight attitude adjustment now but it's far from normal.
And, before turning that off, Sims acted bored but showed as being happy, focused, etc. Now, they show as bored.
Playable but not necessarily as enjoyable as before. Hard to love someone who's bored while doing anything. - @gwenleah : Hmm. Thanks for the info.
Mine still idle bored without being in that mood ; usually happy, flirty, or focused.

@Abradley745 Yeah, my sim is not bored, either. It's a bored animation glitch and nothing else.
I forgot to mention this also happens when I have the envirnment thing turned on in options, with rooms that have no added environment (no docked envrionment either) and also plus to Happy environment. I think I forgot...drinking coffee now.
I agree with @gwenleah however, watching my sim pretend to be bored doing things he enjoys is really disheartening. Especially when it's his favorite activity or when he's spending time with his husbands or kids. It does make you kind of not want to play.

My Sim's roommate was also doing the "bored" animation and now she has moved out because "the living conditions were intolerable". I had this roommate for 60+ game-days (aging disabled) and she never complained prior the the June 3rd patch. Even after the patch her mood was "Happy" every time I checked and yet she still moved out. I can't say with 100% certainty that the "bored" idle animation and my roommate's sudden dissatisfaction with my house are definitely related, I'm just guessing on this. I'm told the bored animation might have something to do with some kind of a negative environmental score. Most of my rooms have ample decorations and over-all my house has about 60k Simoleons in upgrades. It's definitely not a starter home.
EDIT: In case it matters, I do not own the new Eco Lifestyle pack. No mods, no CC.
I have MCCC, how do you disable emotion idles? I've looked all over and can't figure it out.
- RavenLure5 years agoRising Ace@olivegoats Since EA, does not support mods, You will need to ask the creator for that.. I too have that mod and I do not believe there is a disable emotion idles.. but he has a discord you can ask on for your question.
I was starting to think I was going crazy. I didn't even recognize it as the bored idle because my SIMs tend to be happy or in one mood or another. Eve just kept throwing back her head and her arms up and I was like "What? What? What's that mean? What's going on? It looks like you are exasperated with something or are bored, but you are happy. Please explain yourself!"
I finally hit the breaking point and was going to make an unsure bug report about my SIM behaving oddly when I found this and someone even described how they animate it. Everything clicked into place and sure enough, it's a new bug everyone is dealing with. I'm just glad for the explanation since I take such good care of my SIMs I've never even seen it before! Hahaha.
I guess Eve is just ever so hard to please! Maybe I've fed her one too many cricket popcorns and subjected her to one too many questionable fizzy juices. She's had it with me! "You, yes you. See this? This is me exasperated with trying to amuse you with all the odd things you demand I eat and drink! I did not appreciate burping out fire and almost being caught on fire because something called a bombardier cricket stir fry can't possibly be life threatening, or throwing up all over the place because you thought carrot fizzy juice was the next big thing to hit the market!" Wow Eve, way to break the fourth wall. Hahaha. Note to self, maybe she'd appreciate a lavender soak and a regular garden salad once in a while.
Would you mind telling me where to find that in MCCC? I have looked through all the tabs and I cannot seem to find it. Thanks!!
I have Eco Lifestyle. I did a rare thing and actually put decorations on my walls. Suddenly my SIM would seem inspired from time to time. Before that she appeared bored a lot. I'm not a big fan of this new change. I prefer a more minimalistic lifestyle both in my personal life and in my games as a result. So seeing my SIMs seem sad because of what is a life style choice I'm happy with, and feel they should be allowed to be happy with as well, makes me a bit sad. I think the old system of bonus moodlets to make them happier for decorations was acceptable. It didn't penalize me in a significant way for acting, well to me, normal. I know some people really love to have a bunch of decorations and stuff both in their personal lives and in their game and that's fine. It just seems sad to watch my SIMs have to be bored all the time unless I change things for them in a way I normally would not. It's not a matter of money so much as personal style and a feeling of being penalized for it. I want my SIMs to be happy, but should the price tag of their items, pictures/decoration on their walls, and clutter in their house really be a price I have to pay if it doesn't make me happy to play that way?
Funny how modders can fix these issues very quickly but takes EA ages to come out with a patch.... Sucks for me since I'm on console and cant use mods.... Maybe they should hire modders to the development team.....
