Re: [FIXED] Transfer button in Manage Household grey out (transferring not allowed)

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.110.265.1030 DX11
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All Released as of Oct 24/24
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go into an existing household in live mode and have a sim initiate a split from household and move.
What happens when the bug occurs? Only one sim can move into the new household, even if there are more sims available who could move with them.
What do you expect to see? I expect that I can move multiple sims like I could do in the past.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. This happened after the October 22, 2024 game update.

Note that I noticed this due to the bug where you can't create a new household at the manage worlds level, so I went into a household in live mode to use the split from household option there.

When I first tested, I used the Split from Household and Move option on the phone, but the same thing happens if you use that option on the computer:

This shows the message you get if you try to bring more than one sim:

No description available.

So you can only create a new household of one when using the split from household and move from live mode. The work around if you want to create a new household with more than one sim is to create the new household of one sim from live mode and then go to manage worlds to add the other sim(s) to the new household*.

*Here is a step by step guide on how to do that if needed.

First, create the new household from live mode as noted above. This will then create the new household and you can either move them into a new lot or cancel their moving and it will just create a household that is not in the world. If you do the latter, it will put you in manage worlds. If you chose a lot for the sim you will move with that sim to the new lot.

If you choose to move with the new sim to a new lot vs cancelling the lot selection, you will then have to go to manage worlds (use F5 or select the option on the top right hand corner as shown here).

No description available.

At the manage worlds level, select manage households, either in the top left hand corner, as shown here:

No description available.

That will bring up this view:

No description available.

Then select one of the two households (in this case I choose the household I want to move my extra sim out of) and choose the option to Transfer Sims between households:

No description available.

Then choose the other household you want to transfer the sims into (in this case the newly created household) and proceed to transfer the sims:

Households after I've transferred the sims:

Note I've updated the game on my laptop (which has never had mods/cc in it), however I have not yet updated the game on my desktop. When I tested the ability to split from household and move on my desktop, which is version PC 1.109.207. DX11, mods folder removed and localthumbcache deleted, I was able to move multiple sims using the split from household and move option on the phone, which is how I know this is a new issue since the Oct 22/24 game update.

Best regards,

Jennifer

Note that whether accessing the transfer window from live mode or from manage households, I see the same bug - that when you try to move a Sim from the existing household to a new one, it says transfer not allowed. The only reason you can split a single sim from live mode is because the sim who does the split from household action defaults to being in a new household. Not only can you not move anyone else to join them, if you transfer them back to the existing household you can't switch them back into the new household.

@MapleSimmer I'm going to merge this since we already have another issue with split household and it's going to get confusing if we have many difference nuances. Since this is also appearing since the new patch, it's probably the same issue just from a different angle.

It might even be related to the old issue, just broke further.

Thanks for the report though, I've adjusted the title a bit.
  • I can't even get my active Sim to be allowed to transfer. I'd just do it that way, but no matter what I try, from Options, from the phone, from the PC I can't transfer anyone.

Work around are great but this bug has been happening since lovestruck & should've been fixed by now. It also does it when you try to split or merge households when you get married. I've been having to move people from manage household for way too long and they need to fix this already it's ridiculous. It's such a huge bug yet they fixed so many that didn't affect game play. I even tried to move my sim into the other household when she got married & it didn't freeze like normal instead they switched houses & household names. Weirdest thing.
