This is happening in my game, too, and is a real pain. It's fastest to see with winter whims, if you have a save in winter. When the game is first loaded I often quickly have a whim to make a snow angel. Have the sim do it on home lot and it fills easily. If another household sim has that same whim, or if multiples develop the skate around whim, have the household travel to another lot, in my case I went first to a gym, and the snow angel whim wouldn't fulfill. Then have the family travel back to the home lot and whims can't be fulfilled. To get whims working again on the home lot, the game has to be saved and closed down. When game is restarted, whims on the home lot will once again fill but travel and the ability to fill them breaks again.
Not sure it is just travel to community lots because I sent the sims to a residence in Newcrest where a skating rink is in line of vision and told both to skate around. Whim didn't fill even though original destination lot was residential, so it may be travel in general that is the problem. I didn't actually have my sims enter the residential lot they traveled to, just used it to get close to the skating rink.
This problem didn't exist before installing patch 1.55.105.1020. I play on PC and have never used mods/cc in my game. All released content to date installed.
Edit to clarify that when I say whims can't be filled after traveling back to the home lot that I mean the two whims that can be pinned. The whim in the colored circle, i.e. flirty, happy, energized, does seem to work okay, at least so far in my game.
@dolldrms1With this problem if I exit the game, and then run it again all the whims fulfill. Does this solution work for everyone or just me?
I’ve also noticed that after this, when I play for a while the whims won’t fulfill even if I don’t travel.
In my game, yes, if it is restarted all whims on the home lot will again fulfill. Remains that way until I travel again, so far.
I haven't yet encountered whims not fulfilling on the home lot without travel being involved but perhaps I haven't been able to play long enough to see that happen. I will be on the lookout for that whenever I next have the chance to play as long as I feel like it, without RL demands cutting a play session short 🙂 Thanks for posting what you are seeing in your game. I hope you took the time to hit the "me too" button as well. That really helps QA determine if many people are seeing the same issue.
This problem is also occurring in my game. I just tested in my build save and a fresh save. In both, whims fulfilled on the lot the home lot (loaded there) worked fine. If I traveled, they no longer worked. Even if i returned to the home lot, if that's relevant.
This has been happening for me before and after the patch. It happens like 50/50 for me. I remember specific being upset when my two sims wanted to marry each other and they did but the whim never fulfilled.
got the same problem in Willow Creak had the go swimming Whim my sim went swimming but it did not complete.
i tried repairing the game , deleting the localthumb cache and removing CC and it still does not work
What seems to be happening is that if I complete whims immediately or very quickly they work fine. If I wait too long they don't. This happens even if I've pinned that whim. They seem to time out. Sort of makes sense. But, sometimes whims take long term planing to satisfy. E.G. Having a baby or marriage.
My solution is to ignore and/or dismiss whims until I get one I can immediately satisfy. But, I don't focus much on whims and I play with aging set to "Long."
I have problems with winter whims as well. It's impossible to fullfill the skating whim, no matter what I try. I hope they can fix this soon.
I'm having this issue now for the very first time in my game. I removed all of my mods for the most recent patch so I don't have any in my game now and I've noticed that the whims won't complete IF they are pinned. Unpinned whims I can fill. I'm not really sure what's going on with that, though. It's really weird. It's not even just this save but other saves as well. I tried another save--just like a throw away one--and the same thing happened.
Same here. Yesterday I pinned a couple of whims and they would not fulfil. I ended up having to delete them. Once they had been pinned they would not fulfil for me even when I unpinned them.

I've also noticed that, at least for me, the "Earn $X doing Y" type of whims aren't working in general. I'm doing a freelance author playthrough right now, and if I wake up with a whim to earn $100 in royalties, it doesn't complete when the day's royalties come in, and I'm up to around 4000/day at this point.
This is going on in my game as well, after traveling - haven't tried just loading screens yet. I've just been doing the action, manually giving the satisfaction points and clearing the whim. So that's an option too, though quite a PITA. But what can you do, right? 🙂
This is happening in my game too!! I have even restored to completely uninstalling and reinstalling everything (still fixing nothing) ☹️Hopefully this will get fixed soon.
Yes, this is happening to me as well. It's infuriating, because TS2 and TS3 didn't have this problem. I don't see what the problem is, or why EA isn't fixing it instead of focusing all their attention on finding new ways to recycle old animations. I feel really hurt here, because I feel like EA has completely abandoned the Whims system, what with their no longer adding new ones with new packs. Whims/Wants/Wishes have always been a huge part of my personal style of gameplay, and it really makes me sad that they are no longer working.
I can use the sims.give_satisfaction_points cheat, but it's not as satisfying. If anything, it makes the game even more depressing.
I have been a loyal fan of all the Sims games, and it really doesn't take much to make me happy. I know that EA probably isn't reading this, but if you are, PLEASE listen to us. This is the first game that has become more buggy over time. Please don't ruin this for your fans! We really love the Sims!
ETA: Just an FYI. I removed the list of whims that were and were not completing, because "Share Brilliant Ideas" just completed this time. It looks like it's random whether or not a whim completes, which I suppose would make this harder to solve. I still feel like EA could afford to focus more on fixing problems. This game is starting to rival TS3 in its bugginess, and that's saying a lot.
ETA: I also started a new game and tested various whims on my Sim. She was able to complete every single one until she traveled to the park and then the gym. Two whims--Become Energized and Do a Backflip--would not complete. I think there's something about traveling that triggers this bug, but unfortunately, it's not a guaranteed thing. This is apparently a difficult bug to reproduce on demand. I did see that others mentioned it might have something to do with leaving the game on too long, but I don't think that's it. I have days where I boot up the game and immediately whims aren't fulfilling (at least after travel).
I'm seeing this, too. It feels like a very significant number of whims can't be completed and some of them cost finite resources. For example. take a vacation day, but don't get completed. I am only using official content and have all add on packs of every type installed/active.
