Re: [OPEN] [IL] Mermaids can't sunbathe during the day

Hi @BehemothYay

is that in Sulani ? Did you delete your localthumbcache file after removing mods ?

  • This is happening to me too.

I patched my game without any mods, deleted caches, updated mods and then tried a new save file without any mods. The issue still persists.

    Product: The Sims 4
    Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.52.100.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All aside from Spooky stuff, luxury party stuff, and my first pet stuff.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? try to sunbathe at any time
What happens when the bug occurs? no matter the weather conditions or time it always says it is either too dark or too cloudy to sunbathe, even when it's not.
What do you expect to see? Being able to sunbathe as long as the sun is visible.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

I installed Island living, and no matter the weather conditions, it always says that its too dark or too cloudy for it to work. This even happens on a sunny day in the game. I don't know what I should do to fix this.

If you have a weather mod, it'll break the sunbathing. I had to remove mine before sunbathing would work. CC skin textures will break it also.

@Coz626 Merged your post although you say you never have the option and the others say they have it between 8 am and 10 am.

    Questions for everyone

    1. Did you do a complete folder rename and tested on a fresh save ?
    2. What kind of lifestate do your Sims have ? Vampires ? Mermaids ? Human ?
    3. What world is that happening in ?
  • @crinrict

    1. Did you do a complete folder rename and tested on a fresh save ? Yes
    2. What kind of lifestate do your Sims have ? Vampires ? Mermaids ? Human ? Mermaid, not tested in other lifestates
    3. What world is that happening in ? Sulani, not tested in other worlds
  • I've narrowed down the problem on my side. It seems sunbathing stops working when MCCC is active. When I remove that, sims can sunbathe again. And yes, MCCC is updated.

Just for anyone else wondering, it might be because of that.

  • Hi @crinrict , thanks for your answer.

For your first question, I didn't remove the localthumbcache, I don't know what that is. Where can I find this to remove it?

    To answer your other questions:

    1) I haven't done a folder rename/fresh save. Which folder should I rename?

    2) I have one family of four sims who are all Mermaids, and another family of five, where 3 are Mermaids and 2 are Human. Both life forms are unable to sunbathe (after a certain time of day).

    3) So far I have only tried Sunbathing in Sulani, haven't tried in other worlds yet.

I have MCCC too, maybe we will have to wait for Deaderpool to update it so sunbathing can work with MCCC.

I don't have any weather mods, I only have Deaderpool's MC Command Center (Story Progression), and the Pufferhead Stuff Pack, which is just Harry Potter-theme furniture. I took all my mods/cc out and am still having this problem.

    (Posts merged by CM)

  • It was indeed the case of reverting back to the default speed in MCCC that fixed the sunbathing issue for me. While I am glad I can continue using it, days go past way too fast! Oh well.

@destinerachea What are you seeing in detail ? What's the message when you click on the option ? Is your Sim a mermaid
  • @crinrict My sim is not a mermaid. All of my sims cant sunbathe. I deleted all my weather mods and fixed deaderpool comand center. It wont let my sims sunbathe at all it says its too cloudy or too dark.

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

@marblecjskIt is probably due to modifying Game Time Speed. This has previously broken other things in the same manner. Try deactivating the Game Time Speed function, and sun bathing should work normally again.
To try it the simplest way possible, try with MCCC in and move out your mc_settings and let the mod create a new.

(Another example of an issue that happens with Game Time Speed can be found in Deaderpools faq for the mod.https://deaderpool-mccc.com/#/help/faq#TimeSpeedSeasons )

  • @itsug Yeah, I figured that out. I just reverted the speed back to default, didn't need to move or delete the settings. Thanks though!

I had this happen to me in my game as well. I deleted the towels and added new ones and it worked fine.

~I have that same glitch where my mermaids will cannot sunbathe in the water because it is always too cloudy but they can just fine in human form. I have no mods and I only have the standard game with Island Living. Does anyone know how to fix this?

@Guiboulou Did you ever get it figured out? Where you able to get your mermaid to sunbathe in the water?

Has anyone found an answer to this? I just bought Island Living and do not have any mods or Seasons.

My mermaids also cannot sunbathe out in the ocean but they can in their human form on the beach. Also, the clouds block my view of my sims if I try to zoom out too far. I've gotten irritated with it when trying to zoom out to look at my lots when building.

My roommate and I bought Island Living at the same time but she does not have this problem
