Re: [OPEN] Plants always die before even blooming

And after a full day of playing after reinstalling Origin and the Entire sims game set. FAIL!!! It is now obvious that they have done this on purpose. Plants last the one season they are allotted, then die. Must wait until the next season for that plant to come around, uproot all your hard work, replant, harvest once or twice, repeat. Uproot, replant, harvest, uproot... After the season for that plant it is over. Putting them in a green house is no longer an option. The plants WILL DIE. You will have to do it all over again. Really can't even use the old planters again. The soil is rendered dead. The plants need to be placed in a new planter with new soil. even if you use the lot trait "great" soil. all the land gets a grayish ash like appearance and will no longer support life. Yep, Brawndo, its what plants crave. Idiocracy at it's finest. Doesn't matter what world your in, seasons active or not active. Rain, snow or shine. The plants will die. The land will die. so much for my favorite game play. Like someone doesn't want to continue Sims 4. How do you stop it? Kill the game. Make way for sims 5.

  • My final follow up on this about plants dying for no reason, and many more complaints about plants-DIe.

I have uninstalled the game and mods down to uninstalling origins, removing all mods, and all folders. I have reinstalled the entire set up from Origins to complete sims 4 set. I finally Uninstalled the game, Mods, Origins, folders, etc. Removed all saved games including 2 years of an ongoing legacy of sims families. Yes, I lost 18 generations of my sim's families due to them becoming unable to play from loss of content, etc. To once again get my Plants to grow and thrive as they used to. I have spent two weeks testing and trying things. I installed the sims 4 entirely with no mods, failed, I installed Each pack separately, in order and failed - I installed everything and found issues began at seasons. I uninstalled again and reinstalled skipping seasons. I completely installed everything, left out seasons and had no problems for 16 hours of real time game play. I then installed seasons and it all broke down again. I uninstalled again, installed everything except seasons, No problems for 2 days. I installed all my mods and custom content. I just played for 16 hours real time with no problems. (I had some issues with a Custom Content yellow pepper dries out real fast, and Ice Munmun harvestable custom content so I left those out. We now have lettuce and pumpkins so small trade off. Sorry "Ice Munmun")

Finally, I have reinstalled EVERYTHING including over 2500 Mods and Custom Content by leaving out the Seasons Expansion Pack - entirely. Everything else is installed right down to all of my mods and custom content. (at last count 2765 Mods and custom content, including recolors, hair, makeup, body mods, UI cheats, Game Mods, etc. MCCC, Tmex, WW, Deaderpool....) I have now played for 3 SIMS game YEARS with zero plants dying for any reason other than I let it die. Too bad, I liked seasons and having a sim getting lit up by a few lightning strikes and then shooting lightning bolts, best game effects in the entire sims4 game series! And the sound effects were cool as well! I will also miss a lot of the build/buy things as well. I had a business of a flower shop and custom flower arrangements that I can't play anymore. Had a family of sims that had made millions with growing flowers and harvestable to sell, but without seasons I will have to find an alternative. I have had seasons playing since it came out, I grew to enjoy seasons, strange that it all of a sudden becomes an issue?

So, if you want to play with plants, leave out seasons. Star Wars works, cottage living works, snowy escape works, Seasons will break the plants, including random "wild Plants" wither and begin to disappear. Wild lemon trees wilt, cherry trees disappear, apple trees, etc. after a while, bluebells were all that was left, and some garlic and mushrooms. But if all you want to eat is Mushroom pumpkin garlic goulash and bluebells wrapped in lettuce....

  • Sorry, forgot to ad that yes, I had tried turning off thunderstorms and snow and all other pack adjustable items in all the game options menus prior to uninstalling the game and throughout all of my attempts at getting it to work. I disabled any and all available game pack options. Weather, Seasons, Dust, Eco, Get famous, Cottage living...

  • Wow, great update on your issues, and they are identical to mine, down to the blue bells are left amongst a vast sea of dead brown.

    Thanks for sharing again,

I uninstalled all of it, began with origin,  removed mods , did a complete  system clean,  then folders i could find, caches etc , re booted once I was sure I had erased all traces of origin and sims 4.

then a clean install  Origin, and hours of all games being freshly installed, did not add my wonderful mod collection just incase, and still no workie....Me Beat Chest at Sims...then got sad, ate biscuits and several cups of tea....wished I hated sims .....did the dishes and did some grown up Admin...and heard the inevitable call of sims....".come fix me for the millionth time..come I promise to work this time"..said game.....

    and I returned....predictably......

I will just uninstall seasons and see if i can get it to work, note (including a re read of your process and additional notes before i begin)

fingers crossed that it all finally works, I wonder how many other people are having this dead plant issue?

Update" Nooo....Ignorance was ripped from me...painfully so, I just discovered what you already knew...I have to uninstall ALL of it again in order to sever the offending Seasons Expansion...OMG....why are they so mean....Why am I still fighting with sims after all these years.....dammit....(time for biscuits, tea and a re group...perhaps another existential crisis ??)

A high five and a silly wave to you with thanks.

I'm trying to remember what all I did to fix my problem. I didn't need to uninstall seasons, and it seemed to happen most during heat waves. I know I turned off weather effect on Sims, as well as turning thunderstorms and snowstorms to just rain and snow. I have the max number of days for the seasons, so I've only played Spring and Summer. For the plants, I never uprooted them. I just let them replant themselves. I do have a few that seem to randomly turn back into dirt piles, but they don't actually die that I've seen. Maybe I'm just lucky and the bug fixed itself.

I also don't fertile often, but I let the beehive take care of that, aside from my death flowers that I need to get rid of two Sims who made me mad by blocking my oven during a dinner party and cost me my gold.

I also don't let sims without green thumb touch my garden. They seemed to die easier that way as well.

  • @EwoDarkWolf thanks, but it sounds different, my whole world i want to "actively play" in the trees are bare and all plants are brown. if im building everything is green and normal, it happens at loading a lot to "play".

@sillybear101 Since you are getting proficient at uninstalling and reinstalling, try this one. Don't uninstall Origins, I don't think that does any good now. I am glad you tried it though, that helped me out with a shared trial of that thought. BUT uninstall ALL the sims, Reinstall-make sure you stop it from installing Seasons just as soon as you can, mine finally gives me the option to select what to install, which it didn't used to, I think THAT was fixed when I reinstalled Origins. BUT Don't install Seasons and DON"T install the "legacy Sims 4" version-if you have a 64 bit computer you may not need that version installed. (Notice whether you have a "Sims 4 Digital" AND a "Sims 4 Legacy") Legacy is in case your computer isn't "up to" running the 64 bit version. If you can run it without legacy, that is one thing I did and that is what I found out I did on my game that is working good again. With ALL mods, CC etc.
  • oooow, my old aluminium rocket of a pc can barely run the sims 4 with legacy, I cant imagine the old girl ticking over as the specs from my system date back to the Jurassic era.

I will however, do the whole uninstall of games and not install seasons and see what happens, but im pretty sure unless i want to fork out for a new system then im stuck with legacy.

I was so hoping we might hear from more folks with withered leafless and brown flora...

Thanks for your input so far, I will keep you updated.
