Re: Sims 4: Any Picture Taken By A Sim Is A Black Image

@projectmarzanna There is a known bug where photos turn black under certain circumstances but that they just turn out black all together might have another cause.

Are you playing with laptop mode ? What are your graphics settings ?

  • Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

I believe I'm aware of the issue you're referring to, the bug related to shared inventories such as keepsake boxes. However, I feel this is a separate issue due to the fact that it is all photos being immediately black. (I have since discovered that the copies of the photos saved to my irl computer storage are as taken i.e. not black.)

I am playing on Ultra settings with everything maxed out (I feel the issue is unlikely stemming from my system "not being able to hack it" as it is a pretty competent machine.) Vsync, Post Processing Effects and, Uncompressed Sim Textures are all enabled while Laptop Mode is not. The Resolution is 3,840 x 2,160 'Windowed' with the default Refresh Rate.

@projectmarzanna There's multiple reasons why they go black. The storage boxes is just one cause of many.
However as you say, they just being black in your inventory seems different from the rest.

You wrote that you tested 'fresh save states', does that mean that was a new save with totally different Sims ?

I take it it worked before and now it's not ?
  • Today is June 27, 2024, and I have a problem like this. All the photos taken by my sim, all turned black.

I dug deeper in various threads and I went through various methods.

    1. I never use storage boxes of any kind
    2. I have lots of photos. I put some on the wall, some in household items, some in personal items, everything turned black.
    3. I've tried getting rid of my mods, the result is still the same.
    4. I have tried resetting my sims 4 without reinstalling, the result is still the same.
    5. I've tried resetting my sims 4 without reinstalling and playing the new game without mods, the results are still the same.
    6. I even reinstalled my Sims 4, the results are still the same.
    7. I know this isn't a graphics card problem, because I've been playing Sims 4 for years without problems like this.
    8. The only thing I did before this happened was I updated my The Sims 4 to version 1.105.345.1020

    I'm starting to get frustrated
